song - Saturn by Sleeping At Last

~"I'd give anything to hear
You say it one more time
That the universe was made
Just to be seen by my eyes"~

Millie had been filled with darkness for as long as she could remember, naive enough to think that she could handle it on her own. She demanded that she was strong enough to lift her own soul, pushing through those around her, refusing to believe that she needed assistance. But underneath everything, she was just a little girl. She was a little girl that didn't want to feel alone, a little girl hoping that she could believe in something again - just another little girl that dreamed of her own prince charming. Finn could never play the role : tall and shaky on his feet, oblivious to feelings, clueless with girls, argumentative when provoked, too nerdy. And yet - he swept her off her feet. He wasn't strong enough to hold her up when the world came crumbling down, but he knew how to make her laugh. He didn't always know how to do the right thing, but he was charming in his own endearing way without even trying, as if he stumbled around the world trying to make others happy. But he didn't need to make everyone happy, he only needed to make her happy - and he did. Finn couldn't destroy the darkness within her, he couldn't take it away - but he somehow found the beauty within it.

He didn't try to slay her dragons or parade her around on his arm like a trophy. But he took care of her, treating her with a delicacy that she had never experienced before, almost like she was beautiful crystallized glass. He didn't see her as weak - in fact, she was the strongest person that he had ever met. Finn simply wanted to build her up until she realized that she had been strong enough all along, to slay her dragons all alone.

The phone rang for a while, and she bit her lip gently as she waited for him to pick up. After a while, his voice came through and a smile melted across her face. "Wolfhard, what have you done to me? I miss you already."

"Millie.." he mumbled with amusement.

She giggled. "Millie Wolfhard? Wow - I thought you were eager but-", she continued on in a chirpy tone, creases by the corners of her eyes because of how much she was smiling. She had always promised herself that she wouldn't turn into a typical love-sick teenager, but there she was : toes wriggling as she laughed, cheeks aching from grinning, eyes twinkling, locking small strands of hair around her finger before letting them go.

"Why did you call?" he chuckled quietly.

"Can I come over?"

"You...You want to-"

"Can I?"

He paused for a moment. "Uh...yeah, course."

As soon as the door opened, her lips parted. Finn was leaning against the wooden frame, one hand lazily welcoming her inside - but she simply couldn't move her feet. Her eyes were busy trailing up the expanse of his pale neck and jawline, stopping on a small freckle that she had never noticed before underneath his plump bottom lip. There was a strange endearing charm that she wasn't used to - his curls messier than usual as if he had been running his hands through them, the large red sweatshirt that he had tucked into black trousers and a smile melted onto her face when she noticed that one sleeve was frayed as if he had been chewing on it anxiously. The longer that she studied him, the more butterflies swarmed into her unsuspecting stomach. There was nothing that she loved more than that fluttering sensation, knowing how she once despised the butterflies that she was plagued with whenever he smiled at her - not understanding the feelings running through her. But whenever she felt those insistent butterflies, it felt like she was falling in love with him all over again.
