Veronica's POV

I noticed throughout the whole class period that Betty seemed a little distracted the whole time. She looked worried and nervous and scared. This worried me. Another thing was She had her hands under the desk the whole class period and I noticed her friend, Kevin I think, was looking up at her with worry on his face to. I texted her because everybody was working on their own thing.

Betty

Stay after class please

** She looked up at me and nodded.

After class

Everyone was putting their stuff away. I watched Betty's friend Kevin walk over to her. They started talking and she just kept shaking her head and he kept pointing. I guess they were whispering.

He left and she stayed behind. After everyone left I walked over to her. "You asked me to stay?" She said. She was looking at the ground. "Yea. Are you okay?" I asked. She looked up at me. "Yea, no, I'm fine." "Really? Cause you seemed pretty distracted all class and... I'm worried." She sighed. Then the bell rang noting that everyone has to get to there class. "Look I have to get to class. Can we talk later?" I nodded. "Yea okay." She walked by me and I just stood there.

After school

I was still worried by the time I got home. Right now it's seven thirty and I'm just laying in bed doing nothing. Then I heard a knock at the door on the main floor. I made way down there when I heard another knock. I sighed as I reached the bottom of the stairs. I opened the door and saw Betty. "Betty? Wha--" Before I could finish she hugged me. I hugged her back. "What's wrong?" I asked. She pulled out of the hug and Iet her into the house. I shut the door as she turned to lokk at me. "Hey what is it?" I asked again. "My home life sucks." She said. I could tell she was about to cry. "Why what are you talking about?" "My mom joined a cult. Now she wants to move to a bigger house in a bigger neighborhood with my sister, her two kids and two people from this cult. Who are complete strangers." She said. I would see how she is so distracted. "I'm sorry I shouldn't have come to you with this. This was stupid." She tried walking by me, but I stopped her. She took a stel back. "No, this wasn't stupid, this was smart. Like I've said before and I'll say it again. You can come to me with anything." She nodded. "I know. I know. I just don't think I should come to you with ALL my problems. I should be able to deal with them." I smiled. "But I'm completely fine with you telling me and yes you should be able to deal with them, but you won't be able to do that on your own." I told her. She smiled weakly. "This is why I'm with you." She said. I leaned in and kissed her and she kissed me back.
