A/N: According to Wattpad, this is my 100th uploaded part for this long oneshot story book. What started out as a planning for max-20 shots book has become something this long running and part of my everyday life, and I only hope that I can continue this.

[V is for Vergil, D is for...]

Personality: Post DMC5 Vergil

Vergil stood alone, alternating his gaze between the bright red blood that coated his blade and the figure that laid freshly unconscious in front of him.

"D..." He repeated the syllable at the tip of his tongue, his brain working fast to process everything that had happened in a flash.

It had been a long time since Dante and Vergil had arrived seeking to sever the Qliphoth roots from the Human World. Both men had completely lost all track of time as they entertained themselves with fighting each other, then fighting the occasional demon hordes that were foolish enough to come interrupt their never ending battle.

For the first time in his life, Vergil had been satisfied at their situation. He didn't want to admit it, but having Dante all to himself, fighting at his side against the demons, then fighting against him, made Vergil a very satisfied man. He would rather die than let these words come out of his lips, but the fact that he had a companion that had no intention of leaving his side was a comforting feeling that Vergil never realized he had forgotten since their mother's death.

And that had all been ruined by one foolishly careless move in which Dante appeared at the wrong place at the wrong time while they were fighting yet another demon horde. Since Vergil knew that his brother had been stabbed through the heart many times before by all sorts of things –multiple times by Dante's own sword –he hadn't been worried about Dante dying when the man appeared impaled out of nowhere at the tip of Yamato.

But Vergil forgot about the fact that the sword that managed to split his human and demon self into two was also Yamato.

It had happened in a blink, and neither men had been able to react as a naked humanoid figure flew out from Dante's kneeling and transforming self. For the first in a very long time, Vergil had stood frozen as he watched the remaining demon side of Dante transform. Instead of a terror-striking figure like Urizen, Dante's demonic side had morphed into an animal shape. More specifically, Dante's demonic side took the shape of a sleek white wolf with intelligent red eyes.

Once its transformation was complete, it had taken a look up at Vergil, did something that substituted as a bow, then turned around and escaped. That had left Vergil with a barely conscious, struggling naked human lying on the floor in front of him. It was then that Vergil remembered that the only reason why his human side had been able to survive the splitting was because V had managed to retain Vergil's knowledge about fusing whatever remaining demonic power to maintain his human shape. It was highly likely that Dante's human side had absolutely no clue on how to do so.

"Douchebag..." The struggling human had gasped the word, accusative blue eyes pinned on Vergil standing over him. "When I'm all rested, I'm going to have your son rip you a new one."

And with that promise, the human-only version of Dante that Vergil quickly decided to call D for less confusion passed out.

It took a good five minutes for Vergil to decide on his course of action. He had wanted to defeat his brother, but splitting Dante into two and dealing with the human and demon sides separately was not the way he wanted it done. Besides, Dante had been his reason for living, and letting D die in front of him was only going to make things much more complicated.

"I admit that a mistake was made this time." Vergil spoke to the unconscious man despite the fact that D could not hear him. He shrugged his coat off and covered the man with it -put off to see his brother's family jewels hanging out in the open -before picking the bundle and slinging him over his shoulder. "But this was honestly your fault for jumping in front of me."
