A/N: A less action-packed chapter, but explains the special relationship between Finn and the Twins well.

[Finn Cross (Part Two)]

Personality: Pre-DMC5/Post-DMC4SE Vergil (watered down version)

One thing common about all celebratory parties conducted by Luna was how long they could last. Though the commander of the guild, Finn was unfortunately not blessed with the stamina to afford enjoying himself for hours on end, and thus finally managed to disengage himself as politely as possible from the group of ladies that had congregated around him without his notice. It had been a trying experience for him to appease the ladies from not only his guild, but the invited lady hunters from the other guilds.

He had managed to grab a full bottle of wine from a waiter and an empty glass as he escaped to the second floor once again –this time making for the balconies that looked outside rather than inside. Once outside, the atmosphere of still calmness settled his nerves well as he leaned against the railing, pouring himself a drink.

Finn did not know whether it was a curse or a blessing that he was born smaller than the average man. His size had actually been a source of complex for him when he was younger, but as he learnt demon hunting, his small stature had led to an increased mobility that many found hard to achieve, and it was now his advantage. He had been blessed with a handsome face by his father's genes, and for some reason, lady hunters in particular seemed to love these endowments that he had received. Of course, he knew that his gentlemanly, dignified manner of treating the ladies encouraged their affection towards him, but his situation was mostly not of his control. His mother had taught him to be kind to women, and he could not even imagine himself trying to act lecherously to deter women.

"I thought I might see you up here eventually, Cross." An evened voice intruded on Finn's introspective silence, though it belonged to a person he welcomed for the intrusion.

"You understand my stamina for parties like these all too well." Finn half-turned to find Vergil walking out into the balcony to join him. "Would you like a drink?"

"I do not mind sharing one with you." The honest reply came, and the man joined him at the railing.

"You can take the glass. I'll drink from the bottle." Finn offered, but his offer was ignored when the man closed his hand over the neck of the bottle, raised it to his lips and took a moderate swallow.

"Luna is always to be praised for her contacts when it comes to celebratory parties." Vergil approved. "The wine is delectable."

"I expect she has much experience organising such parties." Finn answered, shrugging to himself and taking his drink from his glass since Vergil had dominated the bottle. "We have provided her with many opportunities to celebrate."

"And many more to go." The positive answer was rather uncharacteristic of Vergil, though Finn knew better than to ask. Vergil was rarely a man who talked to others about his thoughts and opinions about the past, present or future. Finn had been around the man long enough to recognise when he was in a particular mood to talk, and this was certainly one of it. Accepting wine and coming to Finn for small talk was just additional evidence.

"Where have you been for the past hours?" Finn capitalised quickly on the chance to ask whatever he wanted now that he knew that Vergil's tongue was much looser than normal. Where the elder twin of Sparda usually disappeared to during celebratory parties like this had always been a cause of curiosity for many guild members including Finn himself.

"The roof." The short answer was surprisingly followed by further explanation –something that was rather rare from the man. "Close enough if something happens, but far enough to be away from ladies looking to monopolise my attention. Having an arm in a sling make the ladies view you as a Commander humbling himself to require help, and they cannot help but want to make the most of that chance to gain your attention."
