CHAPTER 16: INVITATION FOR DINNER

Vaughnn let out a smile as I opened the car's door.

"P'wedi ba?" sagot niya.

"Hindi. Hindi ko kayang swelduhan ka. Mahirap lang ako," sabi ko.

Napaaga  ang pagsundo niya  kanina kaya may oras pa kaming mag-usap kahit saglit. He insisted to pick me up whenever he had time. Though I always decline, I had no choice, he kept on appearing outside my door.

I'll send someone there to talk with your head," sambit niya. It was not a direct answer but somewhat, it made me smile.

See you when I see you," I told him.

"Wala ba akong goodbye kiss?" sabi niya. Natulak ko bigla ang mukha niya palayo. Napahalakhak naman siya sa ginawa ko.

"Baliw! Umayos ka nga," sambit ko. He laughed even more.

"I just forgot to tell you, susunduin kita mamaya. Let's have dinner at my house," he stated.

Wait, what?

Napatitig ako sa kanya. "Come again?" Gusto ko lang siguraduhin ang narinig ko.

"Why do you always want me to repeat everything I say?" he asked instead.

I am invited to a dinner---sa bahay niya. It should be natural to ask him twice cause it wasn't really a big deal. Not at all. It will be just my first time eating in man's house. Kaya hindi talaga iyon malaking bagay.

"Tayo lang ba?" tanong ko. Mas lumapad pa ang ngiti niya kanina.

"Gusto mo ba na tayo lang?" May pagkapilyo ang pagkasabi no'n. Ah, may tinatago rin pala 'to. I made a gesture of arranging my hair then focused my gaze to him.

"Mmh, wait, I'll think about it. Halika, lapit ka. Ibubulong ko," I replied.

Inilapit naman niya ang tainga.

"'Wag assuming ha?" I whispered. A loud laughter came out of his mouth again.

"Okey, Relax. I'm just kidding you know.

I don't know what to do for sure.

"Don't turn me down, Han," seryoso niyang sabi. How was he able to shift mood in a second?

"They need me later. I'll say all the excuses I could think of just to avoid his invitation. It's half-true anyway.

"Okey, then I'll just have to call your CEO or better yet, papasok na lang ako sa office mo ngayon to meet her personally," saad niya. My brows arched as my eyes gazed at him.

"Are you blackmailing me?" tanong ko.

"Why?"

"Cause if yes, it is working," nakasimangot kong sagot.

"Yes! See you later then," he exclaimed. Goodness! That radiant face was the exact opposite of mine right now.
