Kumakain na kami ng tahimik nang nabigla ako nang iniangat niya ang tingin mula sa kanyang plato papunta sa aking mukha. I saw how he smirked at me.
"So, Ms. Quin, are you still single? Survey lang."
Napahinto naman ako sa aking pagkain at gulat na napatingin sa kaniya. Naningkit ang mga mata ko nang makita kong may bahid ng kalokohan sa mga mata niya. Hindi ko napigilan na mapataas ang kilay ko.
"I came here for only one thing, and that's business Mr.---"
"Mr. Ruscitti." Maikling saad nito at iniabot ang tasa ng kape mula sa lamesa.
Napahinto ako. "Mr. Ruscitti. Let's get down to business." Kinuha ko ang ilang papeles na nasa aking bag. While gathering the documents, its very awkward dahil nakatitig lang siya sa akin. Watching my every move.
I sighed heavily before putting the folder on the table. I really need to finish this because I still have two meetings left for this day. Agad na napakunot ang noo ko ng mabasa ang papel.
"Where's Mr. Muller? He's supposed to be here because he's my client." I said while scanning the file. He's not my client for god's sake!
I heard a slight chuckle which made my brows raise in annoyance. "Why are you laughing?" Do I look like I'm joking?
"Too straightforward," he said while smiling... or grinning at me? "What's your name, Attorney? Survey nga lang. Pakisagot."
I ignored his question. "Are you his representative? I can just ask him to reschedule if he can't come." I shot back.
" That is why I am right here," he said while pointing at himself. "I am his representative, Attorney."
"But I need to discuss this case personally with him because it's about his annulment, not yours," I said and then took a sip of my coffee. Tastes good! Tumingin ako sa kaniya matapos kong ibaba ang tasa. I was feeling uncomfortable because he was simply staring at me. He just sat there staring at me while sipping his coffee.
"What's your name? Age? Napag-utusan lang. " Pangungulit nito sa akin which made me really irritated.
"Manyak ka ba?" maikling sabi ko na naging dahilan kung bakit rumehistro ang gulat sa kanyang mukha. He looked... offended. Napahawak pa siya sa dibdib niya dahil sa sinabi ko.
"What?!"
"I said, Manyak ka ba? Pinagtitripan mo ba ako?" Mariing sabi ko before I tapped my fingers on the table. I just disliked wasting my time on something that isn't important at all.
His eyes roamed the restaurant uncomfortably like he was finding a chest.
"If you are here just to waste my time, I'm sorry but I have to go. I'll just contact Mr. Muller to reschedule for another meeting. I clearly said to him that we should talk in person." I took the cup of coffee and finished it but I didn't finish the food on my plate. Mukhang bastos din kung wala man lang akong uubusin sa inorder ko.
I immediately stood up from my seat and gather the folders on the table. I don't have time for this!
I saw him reaching for his phone and looking at me. "What? - Wait for a mo-"
"I have to go. Thank you for the coffee." Humakbang na agad ako patalikod para umalis. Nakaramdam ako ng inis kasi hindi ako ang klase ng tao na nagsasayang ng oras sa trabaho. Hindi ako pumunta dito para kumain kundi para sa case. Gosh.
Inis na lumabas ako ng restaurant na yun at padabog na isinara ang pinto ng kotse ko. The fuck?! Sinayang niya lang ang oras ko. Napasentido ako at agad na tinawagan ang sekretarya ko para sabihing ireschedule ang meeting ko ngayon for nextweek. I decided na puntahan nalang si Mr. Muller sa kompanya nito at personal itong kausapin.
