The sun seemed to favor her the moment she stepped outside, her movements were free and graceful. She was a shining star among true stars, whether it was because of her smile or her skill.
Three years later, Wen wasn't the brightest woman in what was left of the world. Her smile wasn't present, her laugh was a scream, her words were frightened and bitter. The sun didn't shine on her, her movements were sore and bruised. She was nothing but another patch of darkness in a cement room.
She didn't know how long she'd been here, or how long she would be. All she knew was that her fingernails were chipped and bloody, her head always hurt and her bones dug into the ground like another form of torture.
The day her best friends had been killed by the Saviours was the worst, the day the sun fell and was replaced by nothing but darkness. They took her, expecting her to bend to their will, only to discover she didn't bend, she only broke into sharp, lethal shards that couldn't be melted or molded.
However, she wasn't sure how much longer she could last. Not for the pain of it or her sanity, but because it felt like she would die much sooner than she thought.
Then, one day, she heard noise from the room over. A scream, a cry, and something hitting the wall, and the insanity-inducing music that Wen never forgot.
Wen wasn't alone, and maybe she wouldn't be when she took her last breath.
