NADIA WARRGROVE had died at the tender age of nineteen. She had entirely too much ahead of her, as the pastor at her funeral had said. She had a promising career in medical surgery once she got her degree, a loving and supporting family, a devotion to the Lord, and her best friend, who she had been peas in a pod with since the age of six. An entire fulfilling life ahead of her.
Then eight years later, she wakes up in a new decade, told that she had been brought back to life to become a Phantom. Someone who had died, been brought back to life, and had their entire existence wiped clean, no records, no media presence, brought back to do the dirtiest work there was without consequence. A ghost story, only known by what they did.
She was The Hitman, which at the time had made absolutely no sense to her. She hadn't even known how to shoot a gun, much less be a hitman. But, according to an algorithm, she was dangerous for that reason. And dangerous she was, a lethal, lithe being of precision and poise. She became The Hitman, or to her fellow tight-knit group of Phantoms, Harlem, just as they were their own hometowns.
HARLEM always expected to be a Phantom, and then one day, she'd truly die. That was what she expected of her life, nothing more, nothing less. Not until her group of Phantoms were dispatched to work with the Avengers on a topic the Phantoms were familiar with--where she met Sam Wilson, the man she'd avoided for years, the man who thought she was dead.
Her life came crashing back into her, the life where she wasn't Harlem. The life with a best friend who liked birds and talked about the future with too much hope in his eyes.
The one where Sam Wilson was her best friend, where he was her favorite person in the world.

→ she goes by harlem! when writing her character, refer to her as harlem, because she no longer identifies with who she used to be. sam calls her nadia, solely because that's who he always knew her as (whether or not he later calls her harlem is completely up to you).
→ the topic is whatever you want it to be, but it's something the avengers aren't familiar with, and since the phantoms work indirectly with s.h.i.e.l.d. (a branch of s.h.i.e.l.d.), they were tasked with helping the avengers. harlem had no idea sam would be there.
→ this is based off of underground 6 on netflix, i'd suggest watching that to get the vibe of how the phantoms are.
