Roni POV
The text we get starts off happy as Kian tells us that Echo is here. It turns dark when he says that her cord got wrapped around her neck while she was being born and she's going into surgery for her lungs. It's a scary thing to hear because no one knows if she going to be ok or not. The doctors say that she will but you can never be sure if their saying that to reassure you or if they're actually telling the truth.
We immediately get dressed after everyone sees the text. We're going to rush up to the hospital to be there for Kian and Nessa. It's going to be a hard time for them so we need to be there to comfort them. Rebel has a lot of questions. We don't know how to answer them or what Kian and Nessa would like us to answer them with, so we just tell him that we're going to see his mom and dad.
We finally make it to the hospital and mom and dad are already there. They slide out of the room and let more people come in. We let Rebel in first after Nessa says she ok and that she's ready to see him. I go with him.
"Wheres Echo?" Is the first thing that he asks.
"You'll get to see her in a minute, I promise. The doctors are just making sure she's ready to come home with us soon." Kian says. It's half truth and half lie but that what he has to do to protect Rebel.
"How are you doing?" I ask Nessa. She's not crying because she's gotten it together but you can still see the pain and scare in her eyes. I feel really bad for her. I know how bad she wants Echo to be happy and healthy. She had even accepted the fact if she ever died in child birth or the option was to have her or the baby, she would've told Kian to choose the baby. I know ho bad it must hurt for her to be in this situation.
"I'm trying to do ok" she sighs "I saw your message and it gave me some hope. It's just been very difficult being in this situation. I just want her to be ok and here with me. I don't care if she has extra precautions that we have to do to keep her alive or if she has an illness. I just want her to be alive and in my arms so I can give her all the live that she deserves. It's scary to think that I might not be able to do that." She sniffles and I wipe a tear from her face.
"I know it's tough but trust me when I say you're strong, and you're going to make it through. You've been through a lot of stuff and this may be your biggest challenge yet but I promise you that you're going to be ok and I have faith that Echo is going to be ok. We all have faith and hope that she's going to make it through so I need you to have that too." I say while holding her hand. I give her a hug and let the next people visit.
We all wait in the waiting room until we get news on Echos condition. We see the nurses wheel in an almost incubator like thing. We can't see what's inside but we hope it's an alive and healthy baby. Waiting to see what's happening has us at the edge of our seats. We're all really nervous and taping our foot as we wait. It's almost excruciating to wait and finally hear Echo's fate.
The doctors finally come out and we hear crying. It doesn't sound like Kian or Nessa crying. I sigh. It's a baby crying. Just to make sure we all take glimpse into the room. Nessa has a baby in her hands. We all slowly walk in and look at the newborn. She's so beautiful and small. She has a little tube that seems to be a breathing tube. We'll ask later, but right now we sneak out and let Kian, Nessa, and Rebel have their moment. I send them a text letting them know that we will be at home waiting for them.
I spruce up everything for them when I get home. I make sure that Rebels room and Kian and Nessa's room is clean. I add a couple new stuffed animals to Echo's crib. I make dinner for them. We had lunch while we're out so they already missed that. I'm sure their going to be hungry. Mom and dad stay over so that they can help out with the kids and giving Kian and Nessa a break.
By 6:00 their home. We're all eating dinner. Fortunately Echo is sleeping and their hungry. Rebel automatically digs in and Kian and Nessa are not to far behind. Nessa hasn't eaten for hours and you can tell. They devour they food. You can see them getting sleepy. We volunteer to take care of Rebel and Echo while they take a quick nap. We know that their going to have to be up all night taking turns between each other waking up and making bottle, rocking, or changing her. After a little bit of debate they take our offer. They nap comfortably upstairs.
We spend the rest of the night taking care of this new life until they wake up. It's crazy that there's a new person living here just that fast. We can't wait to see her personality and the new aspect that she brings into our lives. I can already tell that she going to have quite the personality after the trouble she gave everyone today. She's also going to be spoiled because she's a girl. She's beautiful and I can't wait to be her aunt.
I wrote two chapters in Roni POV Bc I thought it would make the most sense.
