Aaron POV
Roni and Nessa left early this morning to open up shop. They have started going there a lot while I'm here so I can help watch the kids while they're gone. Nessa also wants to spend as much time at the store until Echo arrives. After having a baby she'll be out the league for awhile.
Although I'm leaving tomorrow, it feels like I've only been here for a day. Time goes by so fast that it's only an essence as people say. I never realized how true that statement is until now. Now I know how valuable time is and that you can't waste it. Since I can't waste time, I decide to spend the day with my kids and make it all about them.
My least favorite part of my job is being away from family. They mean everything to me so it can get tough at times. Spending the day with the twins means a lot to me and them both. Separation is no joke and the fact that it happens to us do much is hard. I don't want to absent in their lives. I've hated so many stories of dead beat dads or super famous people that don't make time for their kids. That's not going to be me. I decided that when I took the job.
I get myself dressed and then wake the twins up. I get them dressed and ready and then we go out to get some breakfast.
The twins loves breakfast. It's because it's sweet and they can pour a lot of syrup on their food. We get pancakes with fruit and bacon. They're too different. Vi and I eat our fruit and take our time eating our pancakes and bacon. Vinny is different. He moves all the fruit off the pancake and just digs in. After he finishes he saves his slice of bacon and waits until he's full so he doesn't have to eat the fruit. I shake my head because I know that's how I used to eat when I was little and Vi eats very little just like Roni. I love watching them grow up and seeing the little tendencies that they have, wether they're just alike out or totally different.
We go to the twins favorite place next, the park. I play with them for awhile there. They look like they're having fun. I enjoy memories like this. Watching them slide down the slide, pushing them on the swings, and holding them as they climb on the monkey bars. Watching them go on the see-saw and playing with each other really makes me smile. Moments like this makes me so glad that I'm a dad. I've always wanted a family and this completes the dream. Having to happy, healthy children is amazing. Even if Roni and I don't get around to having another child, I will always enjoy moments like these and reminisce at them. They will always make me smile.
When we get back in the car I present an idea instead of just flat out asking them where they want to go. It reduces a lot of the crazy ideas and temper tantrums when I have to shout ideas down. I'm open to doing a lot of things, but Vi's idea of going to the moon with a pet giraffe is a little absurd.
"How about we go visit Mommy and Aunt Nessa at work and get some ice cream after?" I present.
"Yeah!" The Twins way from the backseat. I drive to the TrueImg store that's bumping with people. They seem pretty busy today. I'm proud of Roni and Nessa because this is a booming business and their managing it just fine. I come in through the back way with the twins in my hands.
"Awwww, did my favorite people come to visit me at work?" Roni coos. The twins nod their heads yes and give her a big hug. I thought the customers were going to explode. Some of the people shopping are fans so they recognize us. They want to take pictures with us. I can never say no to a fan so the twins and I take some pictures with them.
We leave after about thirty minutes. The twins wave everyone goodbye. The employees love them. It's almost like their own family when they visit.
The twins were clearly getting irritated and ready for ice cream while we were in the store. We taught them manners so they didn't complain, but I can tell that they are. I've learned their moods and reactions over time. I take them to get ice cream. They load it up with all the different topping that are just straight sugar. They only thing that they didn't get is nuts, raisins, and fruit.
During the car ride they end up falling asleep. Vinny is all the way done with his while Vi is a little more than halfway done. Ice cream melts down her hands and it drips down her shirt. I pullover in the nearest fast food parking lot and take the cone out of her hands. I wipe all the area where it melted with a wet wipe to get the stickiness off. I throw the cone away and make it back home.
I lay them back down for a nap and let the dogs out for a walk. I pack up my suitcase and that's when I realized that today is the last day here. I'm leaving in the morning even though I don't really want to. I want more days like these so that the twins know I'm here for them. I'm glad I took the job when they're this young because it would be harder if they were older. I go to check in on the twins and I look at their sweet sleeping faces and I realize that i really enjoyed today and it's bonding but just as Roni has, it's time for me to get back to business.
