Chapter 19: Potty Training

Aaron POV
Roni and I always make friendly bets. The bet this time is that if I potty train the twins then I can get a basketball court in the area of the house that we don't use. I have to win this bet, but I have a big challenge. I have to potty train two kids. I remember when mom and dad were potty training Andrew. They were really struggling and that was only one kid, now add another one. This is going to be a difficult.

"Ok Vi and Vinny, we have a new house rule" I say. They look at me with their heads cocked. "You always have to tell mama or dada when you have to use the bathroom ok?" They nod their heads at me. "Now let's go play" I says. I hold both of their hands and let them run to the door with Guppy.

I'm playing with Guppy and watching the kids when Vinny comes up to me and pulls my sleeve.

"Dada I have to pee" He says. I do a quick silent cheer in my head and I carried him to the bathroom with Vi and Guppy following me. I sit him down on the baby toilet that I brought. He seems a little scared of it.

"Don't worry it's not going to hurt you. Dada is right here" I reassure him. He successfully pees. In my head I'm jumping with joy, but on the outside I give him a high five and tell him that he did a great job. He and I wash our hands.

"Vi do you have to go?" I ask. She shakes her head no. I don't care I have to take another trip with her five minutes from now, I'm just glad one of them is in the process of being potty trained. I'm so close to getting that basketball game that I can already hear the ball dribbling.

I take them out to play a little bit more. Guppy is all worn out. He's sleeping in his dog bed. I let the kids play for a little while longer until they're tired too. I give them so juice before they go to take a nap. They were a little out of breath. They didn't want any snacks though.

"We're going to watch a movie. If you have to go potty tell dada and you'll get a treat" I bribe. This always works on them. They quietly watch the movie for about fifteen minutes. I can see them starting to get sleepy. Vi comes up to me.

"Dada I have to potty" she says. I do another silent cheer. I take her and wait with her by the toilet it takes her longer than Vinny but she did it. I let her go wash her hands and then I take her back to finish watching the movie. I place her on the couch and wrap her in a blanket and give her some pillows. Vinny asks for some more juice and I give it to him. Not even five minutes later he tells me he has to go potty. I get that out the way and we come back.

"Dada I'm sleepy. Do I have to have a treat now?" Vi asks

"Of course not. The treat can wait until you wake up" I tell her. She lays across my lap and closes her eyes. She goes to sleep right there. Vinny looks hesitant because he wants his treat but I tell him it can wait until he wakes up. He lays on the other side of me and falls asleep. Mission Accomplished! I let them play, made pottying fun for them, and they're taking their daily nap. All that's left is to feed them and give them their treat. I'm thinking that since they were so good today and they always want to make something, I'm going to let them make cupcakes. We might have to wait until Roni comes home to help because I'm far from a good baker. She's great at baking and we're going to need some help from a good baker because we have no hope without her.

Roni comes home. The kids are wide awake and excited to bake.

"Ok I heard that there was a baking emergency" she says. She place the baking supplies on table.

"I hungry" Vinny says.

"How about some goldfish while mommy sets up?" I ask

"Yum" Vi says. I pour some goldfish in a napkin and some juice in a cup while Roni sets up. They eat it while watching TV. I clean up behind them. About 15 minutes later Roni is ready.

"Does anyone have to potty before we get started?" I ask. Both of the twins nod their heads yes. I take them to potty and wash their hands.

"Wow, I'm so proud of you guys!" Roni says "You deserve the special treat. Let's get started!" She says. We pour each pre measured thing in a bowl. We mix them then put them in the oven. We clean the station and start on the frosting while the cupcakes are cooling. We end up starting a little fight with the powder sugar. The twins start icing the cupcakes in their favorite colors and sprinkles. They immediately want to eat one. Roni gives them one each. They shove pretty much all of it in their mouths.

"How is it?" Roni asks

"Yummy" Vinny says

"Good, good, good" Vi says "Taste it mama and dada" Roni gives me one.

"Cheers" She says we clink the cupcakes together and take a bite.

"Mmmmm" I say "so good"

"You guys did so good" Roni says. Once we finish Roni offers to clean the kitchen while I go clean the twins up. I change their clothes and clean the remaining powder sugar of off them. I slip on some pre planned outfits. I clean up to and bring them back down.

"Smells good in here" Kian says. He, Nessa, Alex, Adrian, Rebel, and Asher went to run some errands.

"We made cupcakes" Vi says

"They really good" Vinny adds

"Guess what else is really good?" I say

"What?" Alex asks

"They're potty trained" I say

"That's great!" Nessa says. She knows nothing about the bet.

"BASKETBALL COURT!" Alex and Kian yells. Roni rolls her eyes and explains to Nessa. She's joined in on the eye rolling. Potty training the twins is going in the hall of fame for me.
