I remember every single thing from the beginning of our time. I remember all the shades life threw at us– pink, blue, red, green and some of grey but we painted them on the walls of our very being and cherished all the hues together.
At some point, we were perfect. My heart danced to the rhythm of yours, my soul had never felt such peace. You were my everything—my love, my best friend, my inspiration, my rock.
But I lived in a guilt. A guilt of knowing the wrong and still choosing it. You belonged to someone else but the thought of you being your happiest with me convinced my doubts. You were so grateful to me for being in your life.
I showed you how it is to be loved with every ounce of someone's existence. You shared your secrets with me and you loved me the way you loved yourself.
You protected me and looked at me constantly as if it was our last day. Your hugs were so tight, they felt like tattoos on my chest.
Oh darling, how did we turn out to be so helpless?
You warned me a thousand times that you weren't nice and that I should run away from you because you were a man who is a slave of his habits, and not intentions.
But everytime you told me, I turned a blind eye to the reasons of leaving & focused on that one very important reason to stay— love. I loved you so much that it consumed me.
Every good comes to an end. But I never knew that our end would be so soon. You said we were wrong and you had to choose right.
But the truth was we could have been everything and more and you still chose to be the other way, you chose not to fight for me. And the sad part is that you never seemed to mourn at my loss and that's what hurts me the most.
I won't blame you because we knew all and still chose the wrong together.
But the way that I loved
and the energy that I put into us
was with all my heart and soul;
nothing as hollow as yours.
Maybe now I understand
that no matter how hard you try,
wrong can never be right.
