Kabanata 51

"AAAAAAAH."  Sobrang lalim ng mga hinga ko sa gulat. Napaupo at hinawakan ko ang sarili ng paulit ulit mula sa mukha hanggang katawan.

"Miss, miss, calm down."

"Doctor, sedative! Gising na ang pasyente."

Bakit ang ingay? At teka, napaupo? Sa sobrang kaba ko ay hindi ko namalayan na nasa hospital pala ako. Tumingin ako sa paligid at nakitang nasa familiar white walls ako ng hospital.

Lumapit saakin ang doctor at naglabas ng maliit na flashlight. He checked my vital signs at pagkatapos ay nagsulat sa note board.

"U-um.." Napaubo ako. My throat seemed really dry. Buti nalang nakita ito ng nurse at binigyan ako agad ng tubig. Duon ko nalang naramdaman na sumasakit pala ang ulo ko. "Ah" I touched the back part of my head at tama nga, may bukol.

"Refrain from touching the back of your head, duon ka bumagsak but don't worry it will heal for a couple of days."

"Bumagsak? Kung nasagasaan ako ng truck, hindi ba dapat patay na ako, doc?"

Kumunot ang noo niya at tinignan ulit ang note sabay tumingin saakin. "Miss, ano ang huli mong naalala?"

"Umm, a truck was heading towards me? Doc, hindi ba kaya ako nandito ay dahil nabangga ako?"

"Iha, I think you should rest for a while. Nasa labas ang papa mo. We were able to call him by checking your phone if you don't mind. Even your fiance is here. Andito buong pamilya mo. You can meet them after you rest." He said while injecting something in my IV.

Wait..fian..ce? I wasn't able to get my thoughts well because everything blacked out.

"Is she okay?"

"Yes..."

"Head trauma..."

"It's not permanent..."

Everything I hear was jumbled but I know I'm awake. It's just my eyes feel really heavy.

"Oh, she's awake."

I opened my eyes slowly and the first thing I saw was Gerard.

"Gerard?"

"Yes baby. I'm here, I'm here. How are you feeling?"

Kumunot ang noo ko at dali daling tinanggal ang kamay ko sa hawak niya. I sat up quickly and looked around. "What is happening?" I asked, my heartbeat rising and I could here the beeping in the background also rise.

Everyone around me scrambled as if they're panicking because I'm panicking. Weird. I looked around and I start to see who were in the room. My dad, Gerard, Nina, the doctor, two nurses and then I saw him.

Nickko.

"Nickko?"

Tumingin silang lahat saakin and then kay Nickko. He furrowed his eyebrows and said, "Nickko? You mean me?"

I nodded. What the hell is happening?

"My name isn't Nickko. It's Xavier, love."

"W- w - what is happening?"

"You hit your head hard on the elevator when it malfunctioned. Angel." The doctor said.

I closed my eyes and tried to gather my thoughts and then I started to remember. I opened my eyes again and looked at Gerard and Nina, "You betrayed me." I said pointing at both of them. "I saw you together tapos, tapos umalis ako and went to the elevator, crying and then.." I looked at Nic..Xavier with recognition, "You were in the elevator! And then..and then.." my eyebrows furrowed trying to remember amidst my dream? "Everything..everything was a dream?"

"Miss, what are you talking about?"

"Angel.." My dad started talking.

"Please get out. I want everybody to get out please." And then I looked at both Gerard and Nina. "And you two, please, don't ever visit again."

After a while, everyone went out.

It was a dream.

Me trying to take my life and Nickko saving me was all conjured by my mind due to my head trauma.

Naalala ko na.

I was crying and a man was asking if I was okay and then the elevator stopped midway. The lights turned off, and everything shook. I was so scared topped off what I was feeling, I must've passed out.

And here we are.

Alam ko dapat mainis ako pero all I can do is pray to God. Thank him for everything that has happened. It felt like I had a second chance in life. Third, probably kasama na yung pag attempt ko to take my life and Nickko saving me.

This was all a life lesson to me. And I would take this a thousand times over getting hit by a truck. But it felt so real. Everything felt so real.

And then I remember the last thought I had before the crash..

"Please, God. Save me."

And he did. I felt my tears flow for gratitude. I can't believe I was saved, yet again. I'm not the Casanova's Angel. Not Nickko's Angel.

But God's Angel - a fighter and survivor. And I couldn't ask for anything more.
