Chapter Six: Skill Crane

It was almost opening time and (Y/N) was cleaning when she wolf-whistled for my attention. I walked over to her and noticed a fish in a suit knocking on the door.

"Mr Krabs, some guy in a suit wants to come in before we open," I called.

"What? Guy in a suit? No, it's a tax collector!" Krabs said hiding inside Spongebob and taking the cash register with him, "hide us, Spongebob! Now we'll walk nonchalantly to the rear exit."

Mr Krabs' legs stretched out of Spongebob and Mr Krabs started walking away. The fish knocked on the door again and held up his business card.

"He's got a card," I told him, "R.A. Penny Pincher: Vending Supplies."

"What? My machine has arrived?! Oh, let 'em in, let 'em in, let 'em in!" He said getting out of Spongebob who returned to his normal shape and size.

We let them in and they brought in something that was covered by a giant sheet. Mr Krabs told the people were to put it and they gave him the keys before leaving.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Only the greatest moneymaker since the Krabby Patty," he said pulling the sheet off, "lady and gentlemen, meet Skill Crane!"

"Ooh, Skill Crane!" Spongebob said excitedly.

"At a quarter a pop, this thing will pay for itself in no time," Krabs told us handing each of us a gold coin, "which reminds me, step up, boys and girl. First one's free."

"Thanks, Mr Krabs," Spongebob said taking the coin.

(Y/N) nodded and also took a coin.

"No, thanks, I'll pass," I told him.

"C'mon, Squidward, you know you want to," Mr Krabs said.

"Okay, if you insist," I sighed taking the coin and putting it in my pocket, "thanks."

"Squidward! In the machine!" 

"Alright, alright," I said putting the coin in the machine and moved the crane, "oh, boy, what fun."

I almost pulled out a dinosaur but it slipped out of the claw and the machine said, "you lose."

I suddenly went berserk, "did you see that (Y/N)?! I almost got that on my first try!"

"My work is done," Krabs said walking away satisfied.

(Y/N) then had a go but also didn't get anything but she didn't seem to mind. Spongebob tried the machine and just as I was telling him he couldn't win on his first try he did!

"It's a bear! I'm gonna call you Beary!" Spongebob told the bear.

"Hmph, beginner's luck," I said, "now it's the masters' turn."

I put another coin in and aimed for a cat. I smashed the grab button and I was going to be a winner but the cat slipped from the claw.

"Wow, Squidward, you flipped him over!" Spongebob said, "that takes an awful amount of skill."

"Well, thank you for saying so," I said.

"Beary says he's getting lonely. Don't worry, Beary, I'll get you a friend," Spongebob put another quarter in.

"Ha! If you think you're winning that thing again..."

"Winner!" The machine said.

"There you go Beary," Spongebob said showing a pink, fat cat with their tongue sticking out.

"Oh, I loosened that one for you. You would've never won that without my help," I told him.

"Wow, thanks for your help Squidward," Spongebob said walking off along with (Y/N).
