Chapter 31
The door to the dorm opened, and Jules walked inside though I didn't look at him as he walked in. I was too busy working on a project right now, one that I technically shouldn't be working on in my dorm. There was a rule that we were supposed to be working on scientific projects in the designated rooms because it was a lot safer, but we all know I wasn't the best at following rules.
"I got us some--" Jules began, but he must have stopped when he saw what I was working on. "Parry. What are you doing?"
I looked at Jules, seeing him holding two blueberry avocado smoothies. "Ooh, brain power smoothie. Perfect."
"Again, what are you doing?" Jules asked, closing the door behind him. "Shouldn't you be doing that anywhere else but here?"
"I should, but I don't want to," I said, going back to working on the project. "I have to bring all my supplies to one of the science classrooms, which are in a whole different building. That's way too much work for me so I am doing this project here."
"So are you going to answer my question or...?"
I looked at Jules, who had walked over to his desk and placed his smoothie on it before placing the smoothie he got for me on my nightstand, as far away from my project as he could. "Oh, this? I call this S.T.E.V.E. Named after yours truly."
"You named a robot S.T.E.V.E?" Jules said. "That's not really something that sounds like a robot's name."
"It stands for Spying Technology Evaluating Virtually Everything."
"Wait. Why is the first word spying?"
"Jules, you've been dating me for over a year. Are you really surprised I'm making a robot to go around the school, spying on people?"
"You made it to spy on people?"
"Uh, yeah. It's in its name, Jules. Spying Technology Evaluating Virtually Everything. Meaning he's going to be spying on virtually everything."
"That's great and all, but we have two tests tomorrow," Jules said. "Shouldn't you be studying?"
"Oh, so that's why you got the brain power smoothies," I said. "...What classes do we have tests in?"
Jules sighed as he sat down at his desk, opening one of his textbooks and notebooks. "Forget it. You probably don't even have to study."
"Yeah, that's true," I said. "Do you need a study buddy?"
"No, don't let me interrupt you from making your little spying robot," Jules said. "Even though you really should be doing that in a science room before you get into trouble. How did you even sneak all these wires and metal and technology stuff into our dorm?"
"The same reason how I'm able to sneak animals on campus constantly when I've done it so many times before. You'd think people would start to look out for how I get the animals delivered, and then keep an eye out for the van every time it comes."
"Fair enough."
I continued working on S.T.E.V.E for a few more minutes before deciding to take a break. "How's the studying going?" I asked Jules.
"It's going well, for once," Jules said. "I just hope everything I study is on the test and there aren't any curveballs. But I'll make sure to ask you for help if I don't understand something."
