Chapter 32

The only thing I liked about taking tests at Fyodor Academy was that whenever we finished our tests, we were allowed to leave the classroom. After all, we were lived on campus so we knew how to act without any teachers around.

And since I was always first to finish, and quick to finish, I got to spend class time wherever I wanted once I finished the test. My first instinct was to just go to my dorm room and sleep until my next class, but I also wanted to wait for Jules to finish with his test. I knew he was worried about the test, especially since we had two today.

So I waited outside of the classroom until Jules walked out. He was one of the last few people to walk out, a few minutes before the bell rang. And before I could even ask him how he did, he sighed heavily. "Don't be surprised if I failed the test."

"What?" I asked. "No way. You studied all night. Literally all night. I know because I was up all night as well working on S.T.E.V.E."

"Yeah, well, as soon as the test was handed to me, everything I studied just went out the window," Jules said. "Why can't I have a high IQ like you?"

"Well, in turn of having a high IQ, I got it from my mom who pretty much neglects me," I said. "Not the best experience to go through. I mean, I still haven't talking to my mom about telling the media about my whole charity plan."

"You did say you were going to do it in person the next time you go to the science lab," Jules said. "When is that?"

"Saturday," I said. "Part of me still wants to just drop out of the research, even though you're right. It's my research. And if I do drop it, that means that my earnings won't be going to charity, and the whole reason why I started the research was to help people, not to make a name for myself."

The bell rang, so we started making our way to our next class, the next one that had a test. Since it was also before lunch, it meant I was going to have a very early lunch. I could get to the cafeteria and get the good food for me and Jules so we didn't have to wait in line with everyone else.

Maybe I could use my grandfather privilege to get a line skip pass or something...

Once we got to our second period class, Jules and I sat in our desks beside each other. Jules was looking extremely nervous for the test, so I leaned towards him. "So if I keep my test as close to you as possible, would you be willing to cheat off me?" I asked in a quiet voice.

"What?" Jules asked. "No, of course not."

"I'm kidding," I said. "We would never get away with it, anyway. Our teacher is like a hawk that can detect the moment someone tries to cheat."

"Oh, I'm glad not being able to get away with it is the only reason why you don't want to cheat," Jules said. "I am nervous about this test but I am a bit more confident than I was last class. As long as everything I studied is on there, I should be good."

As it turned out, he wasn't good.

When we got our tests, I took a quick glance at Jules to see that he was really struggling with the test. He hasn't even written his name on it yet. He was just staring at the test, tapping his pencil on his desk.

And because he was struggling so much, I decided to take my time writing the test. Of course, I wanted to get out of here as fast as I could, especially so I could get some food early, but maybe being here as long as I could would help Jules. I didn't know how it would. Maybe it would give him some comfort?
