"The Baroque magazine is out today" Alice speaks on the other side of the phone and I hum
"Are we gonna go get it from somewhere?" She asks

"I can't be bothered getting out of bed" I complain
"Zara! Your face is on a magazine and you don't wanna go out and show it off? Are you crazy?" She screams at me
"I'm just tired" I whine and she sighs
"You've got an hour to get ready I'm coming over" she hangs up the phone before I can protest and I huff getting out of my bed still whinging like a 5 year old

The thing about Alice is, when she says she's coming in an hour, it means she's coming in an hour. So I literally have 59 minutes to get ready

I decide against having a shower, please done judge me its really cold outside, and go straight to picking my outfit.

I pick out a pair of dark blue skinny jeans and a black ribbed long sleeved top. For my makeup I make it really simple and then add a red lip to make it look like I spent more time on it. I wrap a black hijab around my head and then slip on my black thigh high heeled boots. I grab my bag and shove a couple of things in there and then grab my black fluffy coat.

My phone starts ringing as I'm stuffing my face with an apple
"Hello?" I answer
"I'm downstairs stood next to your car, get down" Alice says
"Come up to my apartment I'll be two minutes"
"No I'm waiting here otherwise you'll take even longer"
"You are unbelievable" I huff hanging up

I grab my car keys and run out the door to greet Alice leaning against the boot of my car
"Hey girl" she jumps in for a hug and I smile
"I'm annoyed that you made me get out of bed so early" I pout
"It's half ten, get a grip" she rolls her eyes

I take my jacket off and click my seatbelt into place
"Oooh I'm loving the outfit" she comments and I smile
"Thank you"

We drove into town and spoke about her wedding the whole way there
"Now I don't wanna pressure you or anything..." she pauses to get out the car and I follow, "...but bring Harris, I'd love to meet him"
I pause and grimace
"Is everything alright with you guys?" She asks turning around when she doesn't hear my reply
"Yeah everything's fine" I reply and my mind trails off to the day we made up, last week

"Are you okay?" I ask him and he nods his head
"I am now"

I smile and wrap my arms around his neck, enveloping his curly mop head into me and he nuzzles his head into my neck.
He wraps his huge arms around my waist, "Are we good now?" I ask and he hums into my neck

"I'm glad" I mumble against his head, placing a small kiss on the crown of his head

"You're hugs are the best" my shoulder vibrates as he speaks out and I grin
I pull away and grab his head in my hands
"You're so cute" he comments with a straight face and I can just feel my heart melting
I stroke his cheek with my thumb and we stare at each other for a couple of moments

"So, what's the problem then?" Alice snaps me out of my thought trance
"It might be a little bit of a stretch for us because we're not really in a relationship?" I explain in a questioning tone hoping she's understood me
"Mmm true but you never know, this might be good for you guys" she reasons and I nod my head

We cross the road and walk into a random asian clothing store
"I'll ask him, for sure, I don't know what he might say though" I assure her

"Ooooh look you're on the front page" Alice squeals running up to the cart with all the magazines on and surely, there's about ten freshly printed copies of the new Baroque collection with my face on the front
I smile taking one for myself and looking through it
"I can't believe I'm on a magazine" I say flicking through the pages
"Believe it honey, you're moving up in the world" Alice grins

We pay for a copy, not forgetting the pedophilloic stares I'm getting from the store owner

"Oh my gosh Zara!" I turn around to see Mae and Isla with their mum I presume?
"Oh guys! Hi how are you?" I reply in an excited tone
"We're good how are you?" Mae responds
"I've just seen my face on a magazine so I'm pretty good" I say showing them the magazine
"You look so pretty" Isla gushes and Mae agrees

"Aww thank you" I smile, "is this your mum?"
Mae nods
"Salam auntie, how are you?"
"Alhamdullilah good, congratulations on your magazine cover you're so beautiful Mashallah" she smiles and I can't help notice how much Harris takes after her with his nose and the way his eyes light up when he smiles
"Thank you so much" I smile, "It was so nice meeting you but I really have to go, see you later!"

They all say goodbye before I walk out alongside Alice
I pull my phone out and text Harris
