Three months had passed and it was coming onto a year since me and Harris had broken up. Things seemed to work as friends which was eating me up on the inside. What was weird though, Adil had been with me for the past 3 months and things were going surprisingly well. We hadn't made anything official but all I'm saying is I think what we have is good. I was still kinda mad at Adam and Slim but I guess things were fine between us.

Today I had a small, formal event to attend to and impulsively I had invited Adil to come along with me because I didn't want to look lonely. Currently I was sat on my bed twiddling my thumbs because I was ready and waiting for Adil to come. For once, he was taking his car which I'd never seen before.

My outfit was supposedly matching his but I haven't seen him so I don't even know if he listened to me. I'm not really a dress kind of person but if I wore trousers next to Adil I would have absolutely ate him up and I don't want to outshine the poor guy so I'm wearing a dress.

My phone buzzes with a message from Adil letting me know he was outside my building. I roll my eyes because my thought immediately went to how Harris would always come up and walk me down to his car.
I double check all the windows and then lock my apartment door before going downstairs to see a black Mercedes.

He was stood outside of his car leaning against it in the most attractive way possible. When he saw me approaching him he stood up straight and fixed his blazer.
"I'm pleasantly surprised that you actually matched my dress" I comment once I'm close enough for him to hear me
"Fuck me you look good" he says completely ignoring what I just said
"Close your mouth I can see your drool, hurry up we're gonna be late" I say and he wipes away his 'drool' in an attempt to be sexy which I'm ashamed to admit, worked

He leaned down to open the passenger door for me and I nearly fell over because the suit and the car and the courtesy was too much for me. He waited for me to get comfortable and then closed the door and made his way around to sit in the drivers seat.

He's purposely behaving like he's some sort of gangster and I don't know if I should laugh or not because it's actually really attractive.
"Since when have you had a Mercedes" I ask once he starts driving
"I got it a couple weeks back" he replies and I nod my head
"So you wanna act like a married couple yeah?" He jokes and I roll my eyes
"Don't try anything I swear to god" I laugh
"What time does it end" he asks
"11 o'clock I think"
"You love spending the nights with me" he tuts
I scoff and turn to look at him but he's already looking at me with a smirk, "get over yourself and wipe that smirk off your face"
He just chuckles and I have to bite my lip to hide literally the biggest smile.

Fifty minutes later we're at the venue and it looks very royal for whats supposed to be a 'small gathering'
I loop my arm in Adil's and we walk into the building.
"You're going to get cold in that" he comments
"I have a long sleeved top on I'll be fine" I roll my eyes
"Don't be expecting me to give you my jacket cause you're not having it" he adds
"Oh please, you're dying to give it to me" I tease

"Oh my god girlllll you look amazing" Alice comments when she sees me and I smile
"Heyyyyy I missed you" I say pulling her into a hug, "how's married life"
"Oh it's amazing it literally couldn't be any better" she gushes glancing over to Jason who's stood with a group of men I've never seen before
"You guys are so cute, I'm obsessed"

She gives me a 'who's-the-hunk' look and I sigh
"Erm Alice this is Adil, Adil this is Alice" I introduce them both, "he's my-"

"Boyfriend" Adil interrupts
"He wishes he's my friend" I scoff
Alice raises an eyebrow, "you guys are cute together"
"Thank you" Adil says and winks when I look at him
"Piss off" I nudge him and he chuckles

Suddenly everyone starts making their way into the middle of the hall and I look at Alice who's about to do the exact same thing
"What's going on?"
"Dancing" she shrugs
"I don't dance" I say moving off the floor
"It's slow dancing, get your boyfriend come on!" She instructs

I look at Adil and he shrugs grabbing my hand and I inwardly start crying because I really don't wanna do this
"What's up with you" he asks putting his hands around my waist
"Nothing" I shake my head placing my hands on his shoulders
"Relax you'll be fine" he squeezes my hip a little to comfort me

He starts moving with the music and takes me along with him and we're just swaying with each other
"You're not so bad" he smiles
"You're alright" I tease
"On a level though Zara you look beautiful today"
"Stop" I say looking down at my feet
"Look at me"
Our eyes meet and I can't really explain the look in his eyes but I know the look in my eyes is mirroring his

He pulls me closer and lean my head on his chest and I close my eyes. His scent feels like a warm hug and I can't pull myself away.

The song comes to an end and I make eye contact with Alice from the other side of the room who gives me the eyes and I ignore her.

Everyone starts engaging in conversation and that's not my kind of fun
"Do you wanna dip?" Adil asks and I nod my head, "let's go then"

The cold air hits me when we leave the building but I hide the fact that I'm literally freezing my toes off because a certain pig doesn't wanna give his jacket to me.
"Oh my days look at the sunset" my eyes widen when I see the pink-orange sky to our left
"Can we stay and watch it" I plead and he shakes his head
"Leave it"
"Pleaseeeee" I plead and he shakes his head

He starts walking towards his car and I stay stood where I am
"Zara hurry up" he calls but I ignore him
"Don't make me come pick you up" he warns but I shrug because either way that's a win for me

He walks towards me,
"Za-"
I give him puppy dog eyes and he sighs and locks his car again from his keys
"Ajha (come on)"
I smile and follow him to the little balcony at the side of the building

I lean against the balcony and stare at the sky, instantly feeling peace. After a bit I feel Adil pull his blazer over my shoulders and that's when I realise I'd unconsciously wrapped my arms around myself

"Thought you weren't going to give me your jacket" I say still looking straight ahead
"Shush" he says putting his arms around me and leaning his head into the crook of my neck

"You smell good" he mumbles and I hum
We watched the sun rise until the sky was completely pitch black and then we slowly walked back to the car.

The drive home was peacefully quiet and once he pulled up outside my apartment block he got out the car and walked me back to my apartment which was actually shocking

"I'd invite you in but I'm really sleepy" I say and he rolls his eyes
"Don't sell me dreams"
"Thanks for today, I wouldn't have gone if you didn't come with me"
"You're welcome" he smiles a genuine smile

I put my arms around his neck and pull him into a tight hug. His arms snake around my waist and we stand there like that for a couple minutes.
Now I don't know if I was super tired or something but we pulled away and my hand found it's way to his beard. His arms were still around my waist and my left hand was resting on his chest.
"Zara" he breathes and my breathing hitches

I lean forward and place a kiss on his right cheek and then quickly disappear into my apartment before he can stop me and make me commit sins I'm going to regret
