Currently I'm sat at work listening to Jason talk about sales, none of which I actually understand so I'm obviously day dreaming.

"You look gorgeous today" Harris smiles and his dimples pop out making me melt into a pool of water on the table
"Thanks" I blush looking down into my lap
"So hey, I've been thinking..." he pauses to reach for my hand over the table, "...we've known each other for nearly a year now and I'm serious about us. I've never met anyone who makes me feel like you do. So I was thinking-"

"ZARA!" Jason's voice brings me back to reality
"What?" I ask annoyed because Harris was just about to propose to me in my day dream
"Pay attention" he demands and I roll my eyes and I try to understand what he's saying

A couple of minutes later my phone starts ringing
"I have to take this, it's my mum"
Jason huffs before sitting down in his chair, he's clearly given up with me

I walk into the other room and close the door behind me
"Hi mum"
"Hello Zara, how are you?"
"I'm good how are you you?"
"Good alhamdullilah"
"What's up?" I ask
"Are you free to talk because I need to speak about something to you"
"Yeah I've got time" I perch myself at the edge of the window ledge, "what's up?"

"It's just that me and your dad have been thinking and since Kaisar is married now, and you're 21 we want you to get married now too" she explains
For some reason I feel my stomach drop, "oh"
"We're not forcing you, just saying that we think it would be appropriate for you" she adds
"Yeah" I say absentmindedly, all whilst thinking about Harris

Does he even want marriage?
Is he ready?
Am I ready?

"You'll think about it?" My mum asks
"Yeah, I gotta go mum I'm at work" I reply
"Okay bye"
"Bye"

I hang up and lean my head against the wall

Marriage?

I feel like I'm too young for marriage but I guess if I'm with Harris and it is leading to marriage what's wrong with just making it official now?

I text Harris to come over to my apartment later on tonight because I need to speak to him urgently before going back into the room and actually paying attention to Jason

"So what's up?" He asks closing the door behind him and joining me on the sofa
"I just needed to speak to you about something" I answer
"Is it serious?" I nod my head
"Did I do something?" He asks and I shake my head
"You didn't do anything" I chuckle sitting closer to him

"Okay I'm gonna need you to not speak until I'm done speaking okay?" I start and he nods his head
I rub my sweaty hands on my legs and sigh

"So I was at work today and my mum rang me because she wanted to speak to me. I thought it was gonna be a normal conversation but it wasn't. Apparently my mum and my dad have been talking about me getting married and she wanted to tell me that I should start considering it especially because Kasiar is married now"

I can't look at him but I know he's probably more shocked than I am
"Have they found you someone?" He asks
"What? No she hasn't said they want it to be arranged but I didn't tell her about you because I didn't know if we were gonna do that"
"Well my parents know about you" he reminds me
"So you're saying you want me to tell them about us?" I ask

We fall into a silence

"Look I know marriage is a big thing and we've never actually spoke about it so if you don't want to then it's fine I get it" I explain

Silence

I look at him for an answer but the silence is giving off the vibe that we're about to end it right here

"Let's do it" he says
"What?" I ask looking at him
He shifts his body and takes my hand into his, "let's get married"
"Are you sure?"
"We've been speaking about how serious we are with each other and I wanna finally make this halal so that we don't have to worry about people seeing us"
"Are you sure we're not just rushing into this because of my parents?" I ask and he shakes his head

"Zara, I love you..." he looks at me dead in the eyes, "there's no one else I wanna do this with"

My face breaks into a smile, "I love you too"

"We're really doing this huh?" I ask and he nods his head
"Yeah baby, we are"
