A Black and a Weasley

Chapter 14

We walk into DADA and is it with  a very happy Hermione  at the front because she like all the other girls are charmed by his looks although I really can't see why. As we sit down, the door opens and he walks down the stairs smiling at us

"Let me introduce you to your new Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher. Me. Gilderoy Lockhart, Order of Merlin, Third Class, Honorary Member of the Dark Force Defense League and five times winner of Witch Weekly's Most- Charming-Smile Award -- But I don't talk about that. I didn't get rid of the Bandon Banshee by smiling at her!" Lockhart says and I sit giving him a blank look

" I see you've all bought a complete set of my books. Well done. I thought we'd start today with a little quiz. Nothing to worry about. Just to check how well you've read them, how much you've taken in..." Lockhart says as he begins to circulate papers and I examine the questions.

"Look at these questions. They're all about him." Ron says

"What is Gilderoy Lockhart's favorite color?" I read

"What is Gilderoy Lockhart's greatest achievement to date?" Harry says

"When is Gilderoy Lockhart's birthday and what would his ideal gift be?" Ron says

"You  have thirty minutes. Start -- now!" Lockhart says and I begin to write my answers and what I think. After we finish, Lockhart rifles through the completed exams.

"Tut, tut. Hardly any of you remembered my favorite color is lilac. But Miss Hermione Granger knew that my secret ambition is to rid the world of evil and market my own range of hair care potions. Good girl. Miss Black I'm afraid I will have to take ten points from Gryffindor due to your answer for number five" he tells me

"Now... be warned! It is my job to arm you against the foulest creatures known to wizardkind! You may find yourself facing your own worst fears in this room. Know only that no harm can befall you whilst I am here" Lockhart says as he  turns slowly to the cage.

"I must ask you not to scream. It might provoke them." Lockhart says as he whips over the cover and inside the cage are several electric blue creatures. Eight inches tall, with pointed faces and wings, they rattle the bars and pull bizarre faces at the students

"Cornish pixies?" Seamus asks amused

"Freshly caught Cornish pixies"Lockhart  says and Seamus snorts with laughter.

" Laugh if you will, Mr. Finnegan, but pixies can be devilishly tricky little blighters. Let's see what you make of them now!" Lockhart says as he  flings open the cage.

Instantly, the pixies rocket about, spraying this  with ink bottles, breaking beakers  and shredding books. I jump up and move away from them as some people run out of the class.

"Come on now, round them up, round them up. They're only pixies" Lockhart says as I whack one with a book before it gets Ron.

" I'll ask you four  to just nip the rest of them back into their cage" Lockhart tells  as he slams the door and he's gone.

" What do we do now?" Ron asks

" Immoblius" I shout pointing my wand at the  pixies  that freeze in midair ans Neville falls onto Lockhart's desk shaken but unhurt.

" Why is it always me?" He ask us  before the five of us walk out of the room

"Can you believe him?" Ron asks us

"I'm sure Professor Lockhart just wanted to give us some hands-on experience." Hermione says defending Lockhart

"Hands on? Hermione, he didn't have a clue what he was doing" I tell her

"Rubbish. W his books. You'll see all the amazing things he's done" Hermione says

"He says he's done" Harry says to her

"What did you put for question number five that made him take points by the way Lola" Ron asks me

"What was number five again" i ask him

"what was Lockharts greatest achievement" Ron tells me

"Oh I put actually managing to get a job with a brain so small that you'll need  a microscope to see just it and even that might not be enough to see it" I tell him

"Honestly Lola, you should know better. I think you have been spending too much time with Fred and George" Hermione tells me
