This nugget of truth was written many years ago, 1994, while studying to be a priest and possible ironman triathlete.

Life is like riding a bike; the road is full of up hills and down hills and flat straights. When a person comes to an uphill instead of complaining about it or dreading it, what he should do is put his head down and pedal hard until the hill is over. Not only will this person get stronger, but the hill will not seem as long as before when he would dread it.

For every uphill, there is a downhill. I do not know of anyone who enjoys going up a hill on a bike, you have to work hard you are going slower than ever and it ain't no fun. When you top that hill and start heading down the road the wind is blowing in your face, you are excited because of the speed and you do not have to work at all. This is definitely a high, which a person would have to experience. (God's peace).

So to in life, when life offers you an uphill you have to work hard and get through it. You will be stronger afterwards and it will not last as long as it would if you dreaded it. Be patient and wait because when you get finished with those tough times in life there is going to be an easy downhill on the other side. You will not have to work as hard and your life will be fun and peaceful. Did I mention exciting too?

Now a bicycle would be considered a truth. By definition, a truth is something, which cannot be changed. A bicycle is just that. No matter what the shape or design, a bicycle will always have two round tires and a round front crank which turns a round gear on the back tire. So basically the makeup of a bike is unchangeable, therefore it is a truth.

As I said before, life is like riding a bike or with our new definition, life is like riding a truth!

Now if you want to take this one-step farther, you could say God is truth... so now we go through life riding on the truth of God who is the truth we believe in and the truth that carries us on our way down the path of life.

Each one of us has to ride our race to win (Cor. 9:24-27) actually it says run our race to win, but I thought for the sake of this paper I would say ride. No one can train for you. A person can pray for another person but when it comes to training and getting stronger, it is up to the individual person to get on the bike and ride.
