(This is my daughter's epiphany)
" I had a moment of clarity today. I was sitting in my car listening to a song on K love called blessings and it was talking about how when bad things happen to you they're blessings in disguise. And, I felt confused because the way I've always felt is that God creates bad situations to draw us closer to him because if we ever suffer then we wouldn't necessarily need to be close to God. But then it hit me ... the bible tells us that God doesn't create bad situations and also that he is literally like our Dad. So I was thinking that our relationship with God is like an infant and a mother. The infant has certain things happen in its life (gets hungry, needs a diaper changed, etc.) These are bad things. The mother knows these things are going to happen but she does not cause them. They are inevitable. And the baby must depend on the Mom to get through them, and they will turnout okay in the end. The Mother can't always prevent the baby from crying always, just like God can't always prevent bad things, but the mother is always there to provide comfort when the baby cries."
