I watched this story about the person who inspired the Rocky Series of movies. His name was Chuck Wepner. This person's story was a series of mistakes and then finally a big break that gave him the opportunity to fight Muhammed Ali. After the fight, Sylvester Stallone creates Rocky. This person did not get a dime. At the end of his movie, he says that life is better than a movie. The thing that I was so impressed about the movie, was number one; the fact that despite the odds, he just wanted to go the distance against Muhammed Ali. Number two, was despite how many times he screwed things up, he still got a movie made about his life.
Therefore, the question that we have as people; when the odds are stacked against you in life; are you willing to go the distance? Are you willing to step into the ring of life and give yourself a chance? Is life like that? If you want to get a movies made about your life, you have to be a fighter. I know there is a fight out there for your future. How far are you willing to go to get what you want out of the deal? What do you want out of the deal?
Despite the drugs, despite the promiscuity, despite the alienation from his family, this person found the love of his life in a bar. This person can get a movie made about him and the fairy tale life ends with a happy conclusion.
So the theology/ philosophy is here: From the prodigal son to Chuck Wepner, people mess up and do things they should not do to other people. Love and forgiveness conquers all! Go the distance, fight the good fight! finish your race. Maybe they will make a movie out of your life.
