I hate to kick a dead horse, but suicide is the number two killer of people between the ages of 10 -24. How has this happened? I have a theory that the dark side has figured out a way through social media and the use of cell phones to create a sense of isolationism. I observed kids during lunch waves that want to just put on their earbuds and not talk to anyone. I see a majority of students that are on their phones sitting at the table with their peers. I know families that are not connected because of cell phones.
We have to be aware of the need for support from family and friends. Networks are support groups that are meant to help those who are struggling. Everyone struggles from time to time. If the dark side finds a way to convince you that you are alone, he's gotcha. As soon as the rabbit hole of separating vocabulary begins, the person hears nothing but you are alone and there is no one to save you. This is bad! No person should ever feel alone or separated from the people that love them.
This is how the dark side works. Separate the weak and convince them through false thoughts and feelings that this pain and suffering will never end and there is only one way out. Ease the pain by ending the gift of life. This is the lie he wants you to believe. He wants you to hurt yourself. Please do not listen to this! There are people that know you! There are people that love you. If you hurt yourself, you are only giving the dark side the satisfaction of ruining another potentially great person. I encourage those who are struggling to find a friend, look for the help you need and look at all the wonderful gifts you are blessed with.
