Just a passing thought! I was in the vending area the other day and a student was asking for additional change to get a coke out of the vending machine. I informed him that the vending machines often had left over change in them from other students forgetting to take it out, after their purchase. The student replied; "My pride prevents me from checking the coin return". The student left the vending area without a refreshing coke.
I have said before that the truth will set you free, but; "what prison are you in"? Are you in the prison without bars that is in your mind? This one actually has bars made of what others may think or say about you. Very strong material that prevents the freedom of its prisoners.
Today, while watching the movement of the students in between classes, I noticed that these words both start with the same three letters. P- R- I, I guess if I pry into this possibility and understand that there is a deadly sin of pride, maybe one student will be set free from the prison that prevents them from being the best version of themselves.
I believe that truly happy people are the ones that know who they are and accept themselves and their purpose in life. Unhappy people are those who feel trapped in their situation and they do not know how to get out. They are stuck in that rut of trying to be something besides the truest version of what they were meant to be.
We all were given an example 2020 years ago of a man who came from a broken home and was a servant to all. He washed his friends feet, he took a beating for all of us, that he did not deserve. He was disgraced after climbing to rock star status.
He was teaching us a lesson in humility. Our pride will get us in trouble! Our pride can cause big fights with the people we love. Learn the lesson, free yourself and enjoy a refreshing coke, because sometimes, someone will provide the change you need.
