This story was inspired by the Blount High School football team, the year after losing the state championship.

The loss came after the field conditions were not favorable for our type of players. We were the favored team, but because of a cold driving rain and miserable field conditions, we lost.

The following year, we were at thirteen wins and no losses, with one game left to play, the state championship. We were going through our last practice walk- through before travelling to Birmingham Alabama for the Super Six State Championship series. We were on the practice field in Prichard, Alabama and I was standing on the sidelines waiting for the final series of plays to be performed. My self and a player by the name of Antionne Lott were standing there, when we noticed a rainbow that seem to go over the back part of the practice field. Antionne looked at me and said "You know when God destroyed the world with the flood, he gave them the sign of the rainbow to assure Noah everything was going to be alright". He then went on to say that, "we were destroyed by rain the year before in the State Championship". He put the two together for assurance we would be Ok in the State Championship game.

Antionne was so excited, I asked Coach Ben Harris, who usually made the last speech before travelling, if Antionne could say something to the team. Coach Harris allowed this sophomore player to speak to his teammates and explain his epiphany. He added at the end "you see that rainbow, the end is in Birmingham. At the end of every rainbow is a pot of gold. The pot of gold will be our State Championship rings!" The team, including the coaches, erupted into an outburst of joy and jubilation as we all ran off the field to get ready for our travel the next day. In addition, yes, we did win the state.
