This word hit me the other day while walking through the halls. It seems that the students are becoming less and less motivated to finish school. Therefore, I started thinking. What is the root of the word Motivation? I could only think the word was Motive. Then I thought; what is the definition of the word Motive? I asked a few students throughout the day what they thought the definition was. I stopped by a class and tried to find out exactly what students thought of this word. I got answers like your reason, strive, influence, why, and experience. When I look at this word, I see the word Motive as in Auto motive or even better locomotive. When I see loco, I think of things that are crazy. However, this makes perfect sense. Sometimes in life, things influence you, inspires you, or gives you a reason to strive for something that is may seem out of the world. Sometimes you find the passion that makes you want to change the world. (Which I hate to bust your bubble, only one person changed the world and that happened 2020 years ago). Nevertheless, in a realistic way you can change your own world. You, a student, a disciple can change the standard of living you are use to with the right motive. Matter of fact, people may call you crazy (loco) for what you want to do. They may tell you that you are not good enough, talented enough or smart enough. They may try to spout the venom of negativity all over this passion you have to change your world. This is why you must stay strong like a locomotive, to pull the weight of negativity or to bring others along with you after you prove them wrong. Let others think you are crazy and show them just how insane you are when you make this dream/motive come true and change your world for the better.
