Chapter 43

It was soon the night of Homecoming and Josie was so excited. She never really liked parties or dances but she was excited about this one. She had a date, more specifically Penelope Park. The girl she had fallen in love with.

Lizzie decided that she wasn't going to see Hope for the whole day because she wanted tonight to be special but that didn't stop her from texting the girl. Lizzie already knew that she was going to win Homecoming queen.

Eventually Penelope arrived and of course Alaric opened the door. "Penelope, hi! Josie's upstairs but she's going to be down in a minute. Lizzie and her are just finishing up. I think Hope should be here soon. But in the meantime you get to hang out with me!" He said excitingly. Alaric didn't really have many friends his own age and it was no secret that he loved Penelope. He wanted her to be his daughter in law. He also loved the way she was with Josie. He observed some of their interactions (Not in a creepy way). He just wanted to make sure this girl was right for Josie and she was.

"Yeah, that sounds great Alaric." Alaric let Penelope use his first name about a week after they first met. Penelope knew that she had to get close with Alaric in order for her to still be allowed to date Josie. Not that she minded, he was a great person and she couldn't deny that.

After a few minutes of Alaric and Penelope talking there was a knock on the door. This time Penelope got it. "Hey Hope," she greeted.

"Penelope, wow you look amazing!" She smiles.

"You too," Penelope smiles back the girl.

"So are they down yet?"

"No, Alaric says they're finishing up..." she says as Hope walks into the house to be greeted by Alaric. Hope and Penelope weren't really close but they were still friends. "So, how is Ms. Homecoming queen?"

"I don't know if we're going to win yet," she states laughing a bit.

"Oh come on, you're running against Landon Kirby... You're going to win, and if he somehow does win, you already know that Lizzie is going to make the rest of this year hell for everyone who voted for him."

"That's true..."

They were talking at the bottom of the stairs waiting for their dates to come down.

(With Lizzie and Josie)

"Should we go down now?" Lizzie asked, "Hope texted me she was here 20 minutes ago, we should keep them waiting."

"Penelope texted me too, are you ready?" Josie asked her sister while started to walk to the door.

"I'm nervous..."

"Me too, but we've kept them waiting long enough."

"I know."

As they made their way down the stairs their dates were speechless.

"Wow," Penelope muttered under her breath when she saw Josie. She was so in love with this girl even though they've only known each other for less than a month. Once Josie got to the bottom she hugged Penelope. When they broke apart they connected their lips.

Lizzie came down after Josie. Hope had the same reaction as Penelope. She had been waiting for this since the 6th grade. She had been waiting for the day that she and Lizzie were a couple. The day that she could dance with her. This was the night she'd been waiting for.

Alaric walked in when he realized that the girls had walked down. He was sad that he missed the moment but he definitely didn't forget to capture it. He quickly took out his phone and took a picture.

They took separate cars. Lizzie and Hope in one of them and Penelope and Josie in another.

"You excited?" Penelope asked as she pulled up to the school parking lot.

"I'm actually kind of nervous about something," Josie says looking down.

"And what would that be?" Penelope turns her head to look at Josie.

"N-nothing really, j-just Lizzie and Hope," She stuttered after she made eye contact with her again.

"Is that all? You seem more nervous than just that... Are you sure there's nothing else?" It's just that I love you and I'm trying to wait to tell you, Josie thought to herself. Why the hell do you have to be so cute?

"Uh, I-I'm uh, oh look there's Lizzie and Hope." She needed to get out of there before she accidentally told Penelope she loved her for the first time in the middle of a high school parking lot.
