*August 11. 4 days before the first day of school*
"Katya, come on!"
"I'm coming mom, just wait a minute. I want a coffee." Katya laughed as she fully stepped into the little coffee shop. Katya took a deep breathe, enjoying the strong smell. "Hey Katya."
"Hey Crystal." Crystal was the coffee shop owner's daughter and also Katya's friend. "Are you ready for school?"
"No, but I have a lot new looks I wanna show off so I guess I will be."
"That's the spirit."
"Have you talked to Gigi?"
"Yeah, she comes back tomorrow night."
"That has to be a huge relief for you."
"You know it is. I can't take this whole long distance crap." Crystal leaned on Katya's shoulder and groaned. She shook her head and gave Crystal a pat on her head.
"You've done good. But have you asked her out yet?"
"Well.."
"Okay no, got it."
"I was going to."
"I guess Gia was right huh? What you wanna do isn't necessarily what you're gonna to do."
"I know. So, are you getting your regular today?"
"Your mom not taking orders?"
"That blonde chick has no idea what she wants. She has been standing there for the past ten minutes." Katya looked at the front counter and immediately wanted to slap herself for not noticing the blonde standing in front of her. Katya smiled and stood behind the blonde.
"Having a hard time?" The blonde woman turned around, rather quickly.
"Oh, um yes. I have no idea what to get."
"Well, maybe I can recommend something?" Katya took a quick look at the woman's hand, she didn't see a ring. Bingo. The woman looked older than Katya but she was no stranger to that.
"I don't know."
"Come on, tell you what if you don't like it, I'll pay for it."
"I can't do that." Katya smiled as she called for Crystal.
"Can I get the Royal English Breakfast Latte and a black coffee?"
"Sure thing Kat."
"I've never seen you here before."
"Do you know everyone that comes in here?"
"I sure do. My friend's family owns this place so I am here a lot."
"That must be nice. I just moved here though so that's why you haven't seen me before. I have been in my condo, trying to unpack and get everything settled." The gears in Katya's head began to turn. The woman said I and there was no ring so maybe she was single. Katya kinda hoped that she was.
"Well, if you ever need a tour guide I'm your girl."
"I think that sounds lovely."
"My name is Yekaterina but please call me Katya."
"Beatricie but I prefer Trixie 100%."
"Nice to meet you Trixie."
"Likewise."
"Here you go Kat."
"Thank you Crystal." Katya smiled as she took the drinks. "Here you go." Katya handed the warm drink to Trixie and smiled at her as she took a sip. Trixie's eyelashes fluttered and Katya knew that she had picked the right thing. "So, how is it?"
"It's so good. This is coffee?"
"It's a tea actually."
"No wonder I like it." Trixie reached in her bag and pulled out a ten dollar bill. Katya stepped in front of Trixie and swiped her card. "Katya, I like it so I pay."
"And I like you, so I'm paying for it."
"Like me? You barely know me."
"So?" Trixie rolled her eyes and smiled. Katya was charming, so charming and it was pulling Trixie in slowly.
"How old are you Katya?"
"I'm 18. Birthday is coming up soon though. Anyway, how about you?"
"22."
"Ooh an older woman." Trixie took a sip of her tea and sat down at a table. Katya leaned over in front of Trixie with a smile. "Can I have your number?"
"Why?"
"Because new friends are great to have. You want me to be your tour guide so I have to be able to talk to you. Set up a date you know. Or am I too young to be your friend?"
"As long as friendship is all you want."
"Of course, that's what I'm asking for right?"
"True." Trixie looked at Katya, that smile was slowly making Trixie forget all common sense. "Fine, give me your phone." Katya's smile grew bigger as she watched Trixie click away on her phone. Trixie gave Katya her phone with a small smile.
"Thanks. Wait, smile."
"Huh? Why?"
"Just smile." Katya held up her phone and snapped a quick picture of the older busty blonde. "Gotta put a pretty face to the name."
"Whatever."
"Yekaterina! Let's go!"
"That's my mom calling."
"I heard."
"I will text you when I get home, okay?"
"Sure thing."
"Cool." Katya smiled one last time and ran out of the door, leaving Trixie sitting at the table. Trixie took another sip of the tea and crossed her legs, that smile made her melt. Inside and out. Trixie looked at her phone as it buzzed.
Unknown: Sorry, I couldn't wait. I had to make sure you didn't give me a fake number.
Trixie smiled and shook her head. Trixie had not in the city for even two weeks and she had already been hit on by a teenager. It wasn't Trixie's style but being friends wouldn't be bad.
