Katya felt sick the rest of the day after seeing Trixie kiss that other woman. Katya pulled her blanket over her head as she began to cry. Why the hell was she hurt? She had no reason to be hurt. "Hey Katya, which dress goes with..." Willam sighed as she held two dresses in each of her hands. "What happened this time?"
"Get out."
"I mean is that what you really want?" Katya was silent, still under her blanket. Willam walked to her sister's bed and lifted the blanket. "What happened?"
"I saw Trixie kissing some woman."
"And?"
"What do you mean and?"
"Katya, you said goodbye. Why the heck are you crying?"
"Whose side are you on?"
"Not yours."
"What?"
"Katya, you are being a damn baby. You broke things off with her, what did you think she was gonna do? You slept with Violet, do I need to remind you about that?"
"That doesn't matter."
"Yes, it does. You slept with someone else to hurt Trixie, she's not doing that though. She is moving on, which is reasonable. I would move on too if the girl I liked is playing with my heart."
"I'm not playing wi-"
"Yes, you are. She held you in the pouring rain, came to see you when mom took your phone, even said she would make a 70+ hour drive to see you. You weren't even her girlfriend but she was still willing to jump mountains for you. But because you wanted to burn both ends of the candle, you got burned bad. And she isn't around to kiss your boo boos this time and I'm sure as hell not going to." Katya sat up and looked at her older sister.
"Why are you being like this?"
"Because you need to hear it! Open your eyes! You had someone right there who wanted you and you just pushed them away. Shit, I wish that Courtney was here everyday but she's not. Does that mean I lash out at her? No. Does that mean I act like a child and say goodbye? No. You need to either move on like Trixie or make it work with her. And you need to start by apologizing." Willam stood up and walked out of Katya's room, slamming the door behind her. Katya blinked a few times before laying back down. Willam was right. Katya had been putting Trixie through hell. Even though there was no way of them being like they were before, Katya could at least make amends. That is what she was going to do..make it right. There wasn't gonna be any time that Trixie was free before the senior trip. She was swamped with a lot of extra work. Katya was going to have to talk to Trixie the day of the trip, before they left.
***
Trixie sat in her bed, looking at her phone. She didn't feel like calling Sammy right now. Today was a wreak. It started off with Trixie almost being late for work, then spilling tea on one of her favorite jackets. Then from there, it continued to go downhill. It all came to a head when Katya walked in on Trixie and Sammy. Sammy stopped by to bring Trixie lunch and well it just happened. Trixie threw her phone on the floor, in her pile of clothes. She didn't even want to think about talking to anyone right now. She closed her eyes and let her head fall back on her pillows. Katya looked miserable, she looked as if her world had come crashing down. Maybe that was just Trixie. Maybe she was just thinking that she saw that. Yeah, that was just Trixie. There was no way that Katya was upset about her kissing someone else. The silence in Trixie's room was broken by her phone buzzing. She dragged herself to the edge of the bed and looked down. It was her little sister. Trixie reached for her phone, putting it to her ear. "Hello?"
"Oh, someone sounds like shit."
"Thanks you brat. You always know what to say to make me feel better about myself."
"Oh you know, always the best for you big sis."
"What do you want Farrah?"
"Why do I always have to want something?"
"Because you do."
"Well, if you must know I want to come see you."
"You can't."
"Why not?!"
"Because I work Farrah, that's why. And don't you have school?"
"Blah blah, you sound worse than grandma."
"Maybe because school is important."
"Just because you are a teacher doesn't mean you have to act like one."
"Farrah, I have a lot going on right now."
"Yeah, Pearl told me."
"What exactly did she tell you?"
"Hmm, that you got tangled up with someone in my age group."
"I swear I don't know why I talk to her."
"I was thinking the same thing, like why didn't you talk to me?"
"Because you were with dad, and I don't feel like hearing his opinion on it."
"I guess I can agree with that. But this is why you should let me come see you! I can do my work online."
"Farrah, you are in your first year of college, that is important."
"Trixie, relax okay?"
"Ugh, fine. When do you want to come?"
"I already got a ticket. I'll be there tomorrow!"
"Wait what?"
"See ya tomorrow big sis! Byeee!" Trixie looked at her phone and shook her head. Great. She was going to have to babysit her little sister. Hopefully she would get bored and want to go home as soon as she got here. Trixie had half a mind to call her dad and tell him off but she didn't have the energy for his questions. It was always the same with him and she didn't want to deal with it. Trixie set her alarm on her phone and laid down. She was going to turn in early, and hopefully wake up, without knowing anything about her life. That sounded like a dream.
