"Katya, open up. We know you're home!" Jan knocked on the Zamolodchikova house's front door.

"I can climb the tree to her window."

"Crystal, you're in heels."

"Shoes can come off."

"Oh, but babe your outfit won't look the same." Gigi softly rubbed Crystal's arm before turning her attention back to Jan's yelling. Crystal blinked a few times before clearing her throat and leaning against the big oak tree in Katya's front yard. "I don't think she wants to talk right now."

"She left school early without telling us yesterday and has not talked to anyone. So, that means something is wrong."

"Maybe she wasn't feeling good." Jan, Crystal, and Gigi turned around when they heard a car pulling into the driveway.

"You girls better have a good reason for calling me over here. I was in the middle of practicing for the play we have coming up. The play that you, yourself need to be practicing for too Jan. Do you even know your lines?"

"Hi Divina!"

"Hello Crystal. So, what's going on?"

"Katya left school early yesterday and won't answer her phone at all."

"Yeah, and Jan is worried about her."

"Okay, so why are we just standing out here?"

"She isn't answering the door and her family isn't here."

"Why didn't you get Crystal to climb the tree?"

"That's what I said!"

"Fancy a finger? I won't climb up the tree but I can help ya."

"No one is climbing a tree." Jan sighed as she shook her head.

"Fine." Divina looked around and picked up a small peddle. She aimed for Katya's window and threw the peddle without a second thought. "Oi Katya! Come out here, will ya?"

"I'm hungry. Can we go eat?" Gigi groaned and leaned her head on Crystal's shoulder.

"You didn't eat lunch?"

"No, I forgot."

"You forgot to eat lunch?" Divina laughed as she threw another peddle at Katya's window.

"It happens more than she will be willing to admit. Doesn't it Gi?" Crystal smiled and patted Gigi on the head a few times.

"Uhhh, don't touch me."

"Jan, I'm gonna take Gigi to get something to eat. You coming?"

"I guess."

"Divina?"

"Yeah, I have nothing better to do." Katya watched as her friends got in their cars and left. She had been watching them while ignoring their phone calls and texts. She didn't feel like talking to anyone. Katya could feel herself slipping into a slump. She had gone to Trixie's place today but Trixie wasn't there, and she still hadn't replied to any of Katya's messages. Was this just a waste of time? Why offer friendship and support to someone who didn't want it? It was clear that Trixie didn't want Katya's friendship, so why try? Katya grabbed her phone and hovered over Trixie's number, finally clicking delete. She threw her phone and stood up, walking to her closet.

"Are you ignoring her?"

"No."

"Trixie, your last text to her was seven fucking days ago. That isn't ignoring?" Trixie's new found friend, Thorgy, raised an eyebrow as she looked at Trixie's phone. Trixie snatched her phone back and groaned. Thorgy and Trixie had met at a book store. Trixie was looking for a book about relationships, hoping for some sort of guide, when she heard someone playing the violin. She stepped outside and saw Thorgy, playing her heart out. Trixie waited around until Thorgy was done playing, they started talking, and well now they were sitting in a diner talking about Trixie's so called 'love life'.

"No, it isn't."

"Then what is it?"

"I'm taking time to think."

"Think about what exactly?" Thorgy leaned on her elbow and smiled at Trixie. "Huh? Come on, tell me. What is there for you to think about?"

"You read her messages and heard the voice memos. Why are you even asking that question when you know the answer?"

"Okay, so let me get this straight." Thorgy cleared her throat and sat back. "You and this girl start having a fling, even after finding out that you are her teacher. You say that there was something about her from the first day you met her. You said she was charming and witty. Do I have it so far?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"Alrighty, I'm going to keep the train on chugging then. Okay, so you guys have sex. Hot sex and soon you start to think that this could be bad. Not because the sex is bad but because feelings are a no no. Feelings that you say you don't have, might I remind you. Oh, feel free to stop me if I get something wrong of course. Anyway, you two spend countless nights and days together, even Thanksgiving. She asks you about your past, you tell her, you break down crying, she holds you..right?"

"Right."

"You take her home, she sends you messages to check on you and shows concern, she tells you that she is there for you and is happy to be there. She tells you that she loves you..doesn't say in a romantic way might I add, and you just stop talking to her. Oh oh, and you take time off of work. at the school..that she goes to. Did I miss anything?"

"No."

"Okay, so after laying all that out.. my question still stands, what is there to think about?" Trixie rested her head in her arms and sighed.

"You don't understand."

"No, no. You don't understand and that is the problem."

"Why did I even tell you about all this in the first place?"

"Because I have a trust worthy face."

"Here you go ladies. One hotdog and one order of nachos." The waiter set down the food and walked away with a smile. Thorgy immediately picked up the mustard and covered her hotdog. She lifted the hotdog and took a bite, a wave of happiness flowing over her. Trixie raised an eyebrow and laughed, handing Thorgy a napkin.

"What? I like mustard."

"I can see that."

Katya listened to the low hum of the car's tires on the road as she drove. She wasn't gonna sit sad in her room anymore, that wasn't going to do anything for her. She wanted to do something about the way she felt, so she got dressed, made a phone call, and made her way to her destination. Katya sighed as she parked the car and looked at her phone after hearing it go off. She had texted Trixie one more time before leaving. After reading the message she had received, Katya got out of the car and walked up the driveway. She knocked on the door and waited. Was this what she wanted? Should she be happy with a lie..or be sad with the true? "Hello Katya." Katya lifted her head and smiled.

"Hey Mrs. Chachki."

"Come in." Katya nodded her head and stepped inside, deleting her message that Trixie had read but ignored. She could be happy with a lie.
