It was Monday morning, the first morning after Thanksgiving break. Katya hadn't heard from Trixie at all. She knew that Trixie had seen her messages but she didn't say a word. Honestly, Katya didn't know what she even expected. She had told Trixie that she loved her. Katya 100% meant as friends of course, but what if Trixie thought she meant otherwise. Katya stood at her lockers and groaned when she looked at her phone. Nothing. "Hey Katya."

"Hey Jan."

"Oh, jeez. Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"Not to be mean or anything of course, but you look and sound terrible. Did you not sleep last night?"

"Not that well."

"What's wrong?"

"Just had a lot on my mind."

"Wanna talk about it?"

"It's a lot."

"I got time." Jan smiled softly and took Katya's hand, walking to the band room.

"Woah, that is.."

"A lot, I know." Katya took a bite of her candy bar as she laid on the floor.

"Why don't you just tell her how you feel?"

"What do you mean?"

"If you like th-"

"Hey, Jan I don't like her. I just care about her. We are friends."

"Well, I'm sorry. I didn't know we had sex with friends."

"This conversation is over." Katya stood up but was pulled back down by Jan.

"I'm joking Katya. But come one now, you can't really believe that you don't like this person. Can you?"

"I mean.."

"It's a yes or no question Katya. You like them or you don't?"

"I don't know Jan."

"Would it be bad if you did like this girl?"

"Did you not hear what I said before? She isn't looking for that kind of thing Jan. She is still trying to get over her breakup. She says she is over it but she isn't."

"She just isn't over the pain. You can be over a person, but not the pain they caused you."

What do I do?"

"I think your mom gave you good advice Katya, just be there. It's not like you can rewrite the past."

"That's it!"

"Huh?" Jan looked confused as Katya began to pack up all of her things. "Katya, what are you doing?"

"What time is it?"

"Um 12:45?"

"I gotta get to A period."

"Katya, why do you act like you've had a golden idea?"

"I can't rewrite the past but I can rewrite the way she sees love. I can give her so much of it that she just can't help but want to feel it."

"Katya, I don't think it works out like that."

"Yeah, but what do I have to lose?" Jan sighed as she shook her head. Katya smiled at Jan and turned around, walking to the band door.

"Katya?"

"Yeah?"

"Who is the girl?"

"Why?"

"I was just curious."

"Hmm."

"Is it Ms. Mattel?" Katya looked into Jan's eyes and without a word, walked out of the band room. Katya rushed down the hall to Trixie's classroom but stopped when she saw that the lights were off. She looked inside through the window but saw nothing. She hadn't had A period yet today, because the schedule had changed due to that fact that they had a school assembly this morning.

"She didn't come in today." Katya turned around to see Violet standing behind her.

"Do you know why?"

"I don't know but she took a few sick days. She will be back next week." Was Trixie gonna quit? Katya's heart began to race at the thought of Trixie being gone. "You will have class in Mrs. Minj's room all this week. Ms. Mattel has her lesson plans for the next five weeks so you guys are good to go. Of course you could always come to my room and I could teach you a few things." Violet put her hands on Katya's hips with a small smile.

"No, thank you Mrs. Chachki. I'm not feeling so good so I think I will have my sister come and pick me up. I was coming to give Ms. Mattel my homework that I had completed over the break but I guess I will turn it in tomorrow to Mrs. Minj."

"Ah, okay. Well, I could take you home if you'd like."

"That's okay, but no thanks. You have to work and I wouldn't want to keep you from doing your job. Bye Mrs. Chachki." Katya smiled and turned on her heels, walking to her locker. She pulled out her phone and sent a quick text to Willam, asking to be picked up. By the time Katya had gotten to her locker, Willam had told her that she was on her way. Katya's mind raced as she packed up her bag. She wasn't gonna come into school tomorrow. She knew that she was going to be up all night worrying. Yeah, Christmas break was quickly approaching and she needed to focus on school but Katya didn't care right now. She was going to see Trixie tomorrow. After her dad left for work, and her mom left for her doctor's appointment..Katya was gonna go to Trixie's house. She needed to see her.
