Every evening here seemed to be the best evening of his life, Eddy mused as he sat in a whole group of kids he'd gotten to know and really like. He really hoped he'd be able to stay in touch with them all! Thank God for MSN.
It was getting late now, but no one seemed to want to go to bed yet. He had chatted, he'd been silent, and now someone had produced that guitar again and they'd all launched into a ridiculously loud version of Lionel Richie's 'hello', which made up in passion for what it lacked in singing technique.
'I can see it in your eyes, I can see it in your smile... you're all I've ever wanted...'
He sang at the top of his lungs, but he stopped abruptly when he looked left and saw that Brett wasn't singing.
¨What, you don't know the lyrics?¨ he grinned, bending towards Brett so he'd hear.
Brett grinned back.
¨You know me, I'm a purebred classical musician, I don't know the lyrics to any pop songs.¨
The smile on Brett's face was broad, but there was a depth to his eyes.
Eddy winked quickly, to let him know that he understood the double meaning perfectly.
Yeah, Brett really was all he'd ever wanted. He hoped Brett knew that.
The whole group sat and sang and still no one was making any move to go to bed. Eddy suspected it was because everyone felt the same way he did and they knew what he knew: this was the last night they'd be able to sit and stay up like this.
Tomorrow they'd all be sent to bed at a reasonable time, because the train would leave at silly o'clock the morning after.
In all honesty; as far as Eddy was concerned they could have sat there all night, but a couple of teachers came over then.
¨Guys, it really is time to go to bed. You still want to be able to hold your instruments tomorrow. Come on, off you go.¨

He only felt just how tired he was when he got up, and he had to grab the back of his chair.
¨Whoa, head rush!¨ he said, shaking his head to dispell the dizziness.
¨You okay?¨ Brett's concerned voice came instantly.
¨Yeah, bro. I just need sleep.¨
To be honest, Eddy would have preferred to stay up a lot longer and kiss Brett behind their closed door, but he realised as they walked off to their room that he wouldn't be able to keep his eyes open for much longer.
¨Fuck, I'm tired.¨ he groaned while he walked over to his suitcase and took his shirt off, not even realising that he was changing with Brett stood right there.
¨Let's get to bed, hey? I'm beat too.¨ Brett said simply.
When he turned around Brett had walked into the bathroom to brush his teeth.
Oh yeah. Teeth. God, there really wasn't anything in the world that Eddy hated more than having to brush his teeth when he was exhausted. But he knew he should, so he pulled on his pajama pants and a clean shirt and went into the bathroom to stand next to Brett and take care of his gums like a responsible person.
Brett didn't say a word as he waited for Eddy to be done. Then he took him by the hand and pulled him towards his bed.
¨Here you go, in you get.¨ he said softly, moving the sheets back so Eddy could lie down.
Eddy was aware, somewhere, that he would have found this a bit silly at any other point. I mean, he was 14 years old; he could get into a bed on his own, thank you very much. But somehow Brett's soft, loving voice made him feel real good. It made him feel safe. It was nice, having Brett take care of him like this.
So he crawled into his bed without another word, feeling the weight on the mattress shift as Brett sat next to him.
He felt Brett's soft lips on his then, their tongues touching briefly as his eyes were already closing.
¨Good night, my lovely Eddy.¨
¨Good night...¨
