Brett had gone back to normal the next day and they hadn't spoken about it anymore, until he had walked into Eddy's room a couple weeks later with his eyes all shiny behind his black frames.
"So. Remember how I said I was going to make something up to you?" he had said.
Eddy had looked up from his spot on the bed, groping around for a second in his brain before remembering.
"Erm, yeah, remember how I said that wasn't necessary?"
Brett had waggled his eyebrows. "Yeah, remember how I ignored that? Well... My parents are going to a party on Saturday and will be back late. My little brother is going to stay over at a friend's... and I've convinced my folks to let you stay over with me."
Eddy's jaw had dropped. It had been so long, so very very long since they had spent a night together! Well, other than that weird night at the party. Lily's grandmother was better, thank God, but that did mean that Lily's folks had stopped going there every other weekend and their wonderful weekends with friends had ended. So now this? Well... they wouldn't be able to sleep in the same bed, he guessed, but he would be there! Right next to him!
"So anyway," Brett had said, his triumph shining through his deadpan tone, "I'm not going to tell you any of the details, but we can go busking in the afternoon and then you can stay."
Wait, he wasn't going to tell him any of the details? Jesus, what was Brett planning?
"Wow." was all he had managed to say, and Brett had grinned, his eyes still glittering. Then he had frozen for a second, listening intently, before bending over and giving him a quick, lingering kiss.

And it was that kiss that was on Eddy's mind now, as he stood in front of his window, waiting for Brett to appear from around the corner. Oh... this was going to be good, this was going to be so good, and he was so excited he could jump out of his skin. His mum hadn't even complained, when he had asked her if he could go to Brett's. He had just gotten a string of A plusses for his tests, last week, and she had been happily chatting to him about med school.

Eddy's heart jumped when he saw him. Just another Asian bloke, a violin case on his back, sauntering calmly along. But this happened to be his Asian bloke, the love of his life, about to walk through his door. He picked up his violin and his overnight bag, ran down the stairs and opened the door before Brett had even walked up to it.
"Hey." he said quietly.
"Hey yourself."
"I'm off, mum!" he called as he turned around. "Okay?"
His mum appeared in the doorway to the kitchen.
"Yes, have fun."
She didn't even ask if his work was finished, any more.

He closed the door behind him, little frissons of excitement pooling through him as he walked next to his love on the sidewalk. Brett was suddenly quiet, though.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
Brett nodded, but then he stopped abruptly, right there on the busy street. He was looking down at his feet and seemed to hesitate, and it was that hesitation that seriously started to freak Eddy out. Then Brett took in a deep breath. "Yes, I'm okay, but... erm... Well, something happened though, yesterday, and I wanted to tell you and get your advice on it."
Now Eddy's heart started pounding erratically.
"My advice? Of course... what happened?"
He kept his tone light and subtle enough, but he was holding his breath now, he couldn't help it. And somehow, somewhere, he knew what Brett was about to say. Even more certainly now that Brett was so awkward, now that he seemed to grope around for the right words.
"Erm. Do you remember Angelica? From the party?"
Yep. That's exactly what he'd expected.
Fuck.
"This is the blonde haired chick?" he said in a monotone, and glanced to the side to see Brett nodd.
"Yeah. She... fuck, I'm probably and idiot, Eddy. But yesterday... she suddenly came to me in the break and told me she liked me."
