Zhang Yixing || EXO, Solo || Idol!AU

"Holt shit, are you okay?" Yixing opens the door to a very distressed ex girlfriend of his; dark bags under her normally bright eyes while her lips, normally thin and soft, are cracked.

"Sorry to turn up like this but..." she sighs, rubbing her temples with her finger. "You are the only person I can talk to right now who won't treat me like a thing." Knowing this to be true, Yixing allows her into his dorm room.

"What has you looking like..."

"Shit?" He nods, slightly ashamed of such blunt words. "We have a comeback that we've been preparing for for weeks now, but there's one note I can't seem to hit - and it's on the title track!" She puts her head in her hands and sighs in defeat. "I've never felt so useless in my life. This is what I do, this is what I've trained my whole life for and yet; I can't hit one fucken high note." Yixing settles on the couch next to her, hand placed reassuringly on her shoulder.

"You are stressed, no-one can sing when they are stressed. You just need to take a break." She scoffs, she knows he's just as stressed with his own work - between EXO and his own solo album, Yixing barely gets to sleep in a bed, let alone relax. "You get better as the years progress."

"Don't lie, Lay." She mumbles into her hands, "you've always had this way of making everything sound easier than it is." Just like when you broke up with me - she almost adds but bites her tongue in time.

He sighs, slumping against the couch and she falls into his lap, hoping that he doesn't push her away because even though they are no longer together, Yixing has always provided her with a sense of comfort she's never felt before.

Even if now, he's only a friend.

"Can I hide here for a bit, please?" She stares at the TV, there's nothing on but she can see their reflection in the screen. Placing a soothing hand on her crown, he strokes her head; in hopes to give some solace to her restless soul.

"Always."
