The rain seems to echo around the car as you both stare at the figure on the road, you didn't know what to do, he came running out of nowhere and Baekhyun had tried to stop but the wet road caused the car to keep moving despite his foot firmly on the brakes. You look over at Baekhyun, sitting in shock with his hands still on the wheel and you realise that he's making no effort to move because he's running through everything in his head.
Did he stop in time?
Who was at fault?
Was he speeding?
You run out in the rain, not caring about grabbing an umbrella as you run over to the crumpled figure and bend down beside him. A pulse, you tell yourself as you place to fingers on his neck and beg whatever Gods there are that you find one, all we need is a pulse.
But, luck is not on your side.
Baekhyun finally gets out of the car, slowly walking towards you without removing his eyes from the person he just hit. "Is-Is he..."
A crack of lightning lights up the sky as you shake your head, "you killed him!" You yell over the thunder, "what are we going to do, Baek?" You can tell he's no longer listening, that his brain has kicked into panic overdrive and he's screaming internally.
It was an accident, a terrible accident but it didn't change the fact that he's dead.
"We have to tell him," he finally speaks, looking at the house and sighing heavily, "maybe if we explain then Hyunnie will know that there was nothing we could do."
"He's five, Baekhyun! All he's going to know is that his father ran over his dog," Baekhyun hangs his head before groaning, what is he going to do?
