He was hurt, upset and miserable. How could something so small turn into such a huge ordeal, how could he make such a human mistake that it caused such a huge backlash and he was left having to deal with the brunt of it all.

Oh yeah, he's an idol, that's why.

His members tried everything that they could think of but nothing worked, Baekhyun remained locked in his room and refused to leave unless he needed the essentials. Junmyeon grew worried because the one time they did see Baekhyun, he needed a shave and a shower while probably needing to eat something other than ice-cream.

"You need to talk to him," Chanyeol whined over the phone while you were shopping for a present for his birthday. "You are our final hope."

"Chanyeol, this isn't Star Wars, the world isn't going to end but I understand; I'll be over shortly." You found the perfect present and hurried to the dorms.

When you arrived, you found your best friend in a terrible state; attached to his computer, clothes looking like they need a wash and something smelling from the pile in the corner of the floor.

Minseok would have a heart attack seeing this.

"Baekkie~" He ignores your first attempt at making contact and you huff slightly. "Baekhyun," still no answer, so you move onto the next plan. Spinning his chair so he has to look at you, you smile widely. "Hello!" A slow, dull blink is all you are given while he sighs.

Yikes, he does look terrible.

"Hard week?" He shrugs, you already know it has been but you are just trying to get him to talk. "Wanna talk about it?" He shakes his head but you can see he's dying to.

"I didn't mean what I said, I didn't think someone would get hurt by what I wrote..." Your heart breaks at hearing the defeated tone in his voice. "I don't know what I can say to fix this." You pull the small gift out of your pocket, hoping this will remind him that shit sometimes happens.

"Be what you are, this is the first step toward being better than you are - Jules Charles Hare."

It's a quote written on a plaque so you can place it on your desk, you knew he was hurt by trying to be something everyone wanted him to be so you hoped this reminds him to always be himself.

"Just be you. No one else can be Byun Baekhyun as good as you can." You give him a hug and punch his shoulder softly. "Happy Birthday, Baek. Now go clean up so we can get some proper food in you."
