These things happen; lives come together and some times, sadly, those lives drift in and out of love so much that they don't know what they did to fall in love in the first place.

You never thought this day would come, you had seven long years with Jongdae but god, are you tired. Tired of the broken promises, the compromising on your end and sacrificing your life for his career - sacrificing yourself for someone who couldn't do the same for you no matter how hard he tried.

It wasn't that you hate Jongdae, that could and would never happen but you just can't find why you loved him in the first place.

So here you are, sitting in the car with a lump in your throat as you try to hold back the tears when you said those two dreadful words to the man you spent so long with.

"It's over." He didn't expect it, of course not, you had been playing the doting girlfriend like the role was made for you but you just couldn't anymore and this is the only way for you to put your happiness first - no matter how selfish you feel about it.

"But-" Jongdae blinks a few times as he tries to process his thoughts. "But this morning, you told me you loved me; how can you say that and then want to break up in the span of eight hours?"

"You're right, I did love you, I just can't say the same now; I can't keep saying those words and pretending like they mean the same as what they did when we first got together." The tears begin to fall, you pull over as a wave of sobs wrack through your body and Jongdae just silently watches you, unable to say or do anything because he's unsure whether you would even want him to touch you. "You can't say that things have been okay between us, we've fallen out of love, Dae; our paths are no longer connected and as much as this hurts - as much as I do love you in some aspect, it just isn't enough anymore."

When the sobs subside and you manage to drive once more, the car is silent; years of smiles, tears and memories flashing before your eyes on last time before you both take a step towards your future - a future that doesn't include the love you once shared.
