It had been a couple of weeks since the accident; Jongin had been cleared by the doctors and sent back to your apartment so you can keep an eye on him. He was worried at first, he didn't quite understand why you were there or why his parents weren't and even though, the doctors said it was temporary amnesia but after a few weeks, his memory didn't seem to come back.

Well, not in the way you thought it might.

Jongin slowly began to remember things, his childhood, where he went to school, what his favourite food was, and even bits and pieces about his job. The one thing he didn't seem to remember - ever - was his friendship with you.

"How did we meet?" He asks, playing with his dinner as he looks at you.

You sigh. Jongin's been asking questions in regards to your friendship for the past few weeks and every time he does, it hits you in the heart. "We met at my brother's birthday party. You came with one of his friends." Jongin nods, placing a potato in his mouth and chewing contemplatively. "We got on like a house on fire and we've been inseparable since."

"Have we kissed?" You choke on your broccoli, eyes wide as you splutter. "Sorry, I didn't think that would have been such a bad question."

"N-no, it's not a bad question." You blush because Jongin is watching you expectantly. "It's just something we promised never to talk about."

He makes a sound of acknowledgement, "so we have kissed." He looks down at his plate and cuts up a piece of his steak and inspecting it like it's the most interesting thing in the room. "What was it like?" You don't how to answer him, just blushing a deep red while staring at your plate, "was I that bad?"

You sigh, a heavy sigh and you feel the weight between your shoulder blades. "No, it's not that, it's just..." You trail off, looking up at Jongin, who is staring intensely at you. "It's just that we decided that it was for the best never to cross that line."

"Cross that line?"

"Yeah, if we began dating, it could change everything." Jongin nods, like he understands.

Placing his knife and fork down, Jongin indicates for you to come over to him. "Refresh my memory," his response throws you off. You look at him like he's grown a third head. "What? I want to see if I can remember, the doctor said that sometimes physical activity can trigger memories. You know, how I started dancing and immediately knew how to do the entire choreography without even knowing the song?" You nod, slowly as the thought of kissing him again runs through your mind. "So, come and see if you can refresh my memory."

That's when you see it. As you move towards him and see the excitement in his eyes, that's when you see the truth behind his eyes.

"You asshole," you bend down, eye to eye with him and Jongin lets out a short laugh. "You remember."

"Of course, I do." He replies simply, cupping your cheeks and gazing deep into your soul. "How could I ever forget you?"
