Betrayal.
It stings no matter how many times it happens. You have seen it nearly every day of your life in some way, you have experienced it with those around you but never in a million years, did you think he'd betray you. A normal day, a day that was going so smoothly, turns into a bloodbath led by none other than Ten.
"Why?" You don't put your hands up, you don't pay attention to the men who surround you - you only look at Ten, pointing a gun at you.
He throws you a twisted smile, cocking his head to the side as if your question confuses him. "Why?" He mocks your hurt tone. "Why not?"
Why not? "Ten, we've been together for nearly three years. We live together, we've built so much together. Why would you go and throw all of that away? Why would you do this to us?"
Ten moves closer, one of his men kicking the back of your knees and causing you to drop to the floor, but you never take your eyes off him as he moves towards you slowly. His gun is pointed at your forehead, his eyes locked with your own until he comes to a stop - the barrel pressed against your skull. Part of you can see the murder and blood lust in his dark eyes, the sadistic smile showing how unencumbered he is by the bodies slain on the floor around you; part of you can see the slight hesitance, the burden weighing on his mind as he contemplates your death.
"You were always a means to an end. It was easier to pretend three years with you than to join the family another way and have to work my way to the top; what could have taken five or more years was achieved in half that time, simply because you were so easy.
The words are a slap in the face, everything you had cherished about your relationship with Ten meant nothing to the man as he looks coldly down at you. With a defeated sigh, you decide to play one last card. "If you're going to kill me, then by all means..." You close your eyes, ready for things to either end - or not. You hope that the time you spent together has moved his heart a little bit and when you hear the slightest shudder in his breath, the hesitance clearly growing stronger because he never expected you to give in so easily - you see the light at the end of the tunnel.
BANG!
Your body slumps to the floor and Ten lets out a quiet sob, looking at the man who had pulled the trigger. "Why?!"
He shrugs, lowering his arm and moving back into his space with the rest of the men. "Boss said that you'd hesitate and he wasn't going to let this plan go to waste simply because you might harbour feelings."
Dropping to his knees, Ten weeps, holding your body in his arms and begging for forgiveness. It's too late now, the damage is done and what he had hoped to gain from this, all means nothing now.
