They wouldn't let it be. You should have figured this when you first started dating Jongdae; he was going to be thrown out of the only life he knew because he had fallen in love with you.
You; a normal woman from outside of the entertainment business.
You; who didn't provide any benefits to EXO if the relationship went public.
You weren't anything special, you knew this but yet Jongdae still loved you with all his heart and he never let you forget this. Even if you couldn't see each other every day, he would send a selfie to say he loved you and if you were together - he gave you the world.
It had been a few months of sneaking around - not really sneaking when the entirety of EXO knew - before expressed his intention of making the relationship public. You showed concern, he soothed those with a loving smile and easy words and held your hand when you made your way to SM to talk to the manager and staff.
"No." It was unanimous.
"Please, give us a chance." You begged but it didn't work, they said that if Jongdae wanted to be with you, he could in secret but at this point in his career, he can't have distractions or bad rumours spreading and it broke your heart.
You loved Jongdae more than anything and you didn't want to be the reason he could have some gossip blogs spreading false rumours about you.
"O-" You start but a hand raised to silence you caused you to shut it quickly.
"You have two options. One, let me and Y/N have a public relationship where I'm not having to sneak around and have the potential to get caught or two, don't and I leave with her." Everyone stared at him, mouths open and eyes wide with shock.
Kim Jongdae has never been one to make demands, he's always whining but he's never been difficult to deal with so him standing in front of the staff and his manager with a stern, determined expression - they knew he wasn't messing around.
"Chen, think about what you are giving up?" He looked at you and you knew he had made up his mind.
"I'm not going to stay in a place where me and my baby isn't wanted, you either let us be together and keep me or I walk out of the door and leave for good." Tears welled up in your eyes as you let him make the hardest decision of his life. You knew that it would kill him inside, leaving this life behind but you couldn't stop him if you tried.
When Jongdae made a decision - it was final and no-one could change his mind.
