He had only been joking, why wouldn't you listen to him?

He was being an idiot and joking with his friends, he didn't mean what had been said, he didn't mean for you to see the messages - he was just so stupid to send them in the group chat; forgetting that he was the one who added you to it.

I bet you can't even tell her you love her, Baekhyun. Jongdae had joked, outing Baekhyun's feelings for you in one sentence and Baekhyun couldn't help but need to be... himself.

You want a bet? How much do you want a bet? If I ask her out, and she accepts, you all owe me 30,000won each!

It wasn't until your face had come up under the seen by: that he was at a loss for words.

He didn't mean it.

But you wouldn't hear him out.

"I was joking," Baekhyun stopped you walking away from him again. "I said something stupid because they were teasing me but I didn't mean it."

"So you wouldn't have asked me out and then bragged about it?" He pauses to think about the right answer and you scoff, pulling your arm out of his grip. "Go home, Baekhyun." You continue to walk, lifting your bag over your shoulder and shaking your head at the whines that follow.

"But why? Why are you so mad at me?"

"Because you saw whatever was developing between us as a bet." You stopped, facing him with cold fury, his stupidity sometimes knew no bounds. "Baekhyun, the moment you saw me as a bet was the moment you fucked up. I wouldn't have cared if you said you'd ask me out but to place money on it? To make it a game?" You shake your head, ignoring how distraught he looked. "That's a huge low, even for you."

He watches as you walk away, unable to stop you because he knows there is nothing he can say to make it better - not now any way.

He'll give you space, maybe then, he'll be able to make it right.
