Jailyn~
"Hey, Jailyn, this is Dr.Thomas. I just wanted to give you a call to let you know that all of your test results from this morning came back normal," Dr.Thomas tells me over the phone as I'm lounging on the couch with Christian after our two-hour gym session. He's watching me, waiting for any updates on if there's any concern about the fact I haven't gotten my period in the last few months. "As of this time, we're going to assume that your missed menses are due to how much stress you've been dealing with these past few months."
"I guess that makes sense," I agree.
"Of course, please don't hesitate to reach out with any other questions or concerns, or if you go longer than another three months without a typical cycle. We can assess further if it gets to that point; however, I am confident based on all of your labs and your lack of any other symptoms this is all stress-related."
"Okay, sounds good, thank you."
"Of course, have a nice rest of your day."
"You too," I reply before hanging up the phone. Christian cocks an eyebrow at me while I toss my phone to the side, waiting for an update.
"All my tests came back normal," I let him know, "She's saying it's just due to how much stress I've been under these past few months."
"That's good," Christian replies, "not the stress part, obviously, but that it's nothing to worry about."
"Right," I confirm, leaning my head on the back of the couch. "Hopefully now that things have calmed down a bit it'll be easier to decompress."
"It will be," He assures me, "Especially now that we've got no obligations until we head back to OKC for the start of your season."
"Yeah," I reply. "Honestly, other than the whole pregnancy scare, just being back here and having some distance from everything has helped some. I'm not sure it's necessarily fair to feel that way just given we came back here literally the day after the sentencing hearing, but..."
Christian nods, "It makes sense though. Just getting some distance from where everything had been happening." I nod, agreeing with him. "Doing okay?"
"Yeah," I confirm. Christian gives me a smile before holding his hand out to me. Chuckling a little, I put my hand in his and let him pull me into him. My face and shoulder pushed to his chest as he hugs me, both of us laughing a little at the awkward positioning.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
After repositioning to lie across Christians lap more comfortably, we just sit with one another. It's been a while since Christian and I were able to just exist together. Neither of us felt the need to say much after throwing on a movie and just enjoying each other's company. Crazy to think that in a couple of days we'll have been married for a full year.
That's insane.
Not only is it insane that it's already been a year, but there's also the reality that when you really think about it, it's crazy that it's possibly only been a year. Thinking back on everything that's happened this past year, Christian is about the only thing that I wouldn't have changed a thing about. How has so much happened in 365 days- well, actually 366, I guess.
"Did you realize we got married on a leap year?" I ask, looking up at Christian.
His brow furrows a moment, not sure where my thought had come from, "I don't think I've ever thought about it, but yeah, I guess we did."
"I was just thinking about everything that's happened this past year," I start explaining,
"Obviously, we got married, then our seasons started, I fucked up my shoulder and needed surgery, I won another World Championship directly off of that, then you won the World Series and MVP again, the trial, our honeymoon. Like it's insane that all of that happened in the past year."
