Just sold a piece to a high rolling buyer, bubbie is at my neighbors house having a play date with Ronin, and I'm meeting Billie for a late lunch. At least I thought I was, she seems to be running a bit late. I shoot a quick text to my neighbor.
H
-hey just checking in. Everything good?-M. Wilder
-yeah just fixed some snacks, currently watching some cartoons-H
-call me if you need anything, I'm not far-"You look really nice today." Billie's voice snaps my attention from my phone.
"Oh, thanks. I was just closing a deal on an art installation before this." I tell her, not knowing how to act around her.
"Very cool, I've been working on a music project with my brother. It's going well so far, I actually quit music for a little while after Interscope dropped me. Just wasn't wanting that lifestyle anymore. I realize that makes me sound like a hypocrite now but, things are different this time around." she says with confidence. She really has grown in maturity since the last time. "Also, I don't think I ever got the opportunity to apologize to you for what happened in the park that day with my ex... so, I'm sorry."
I smirk, "Did the big bad Billie just apologize?"
"I'm not the bad guy anymore Hayden, but yes I did." she says with a chuckle.
The duration of lunch actually goes really well. I'm enjoying myself. We split the bill and she walks me to my car.
"So when can I actually take you on a date?" she asks me as she grips that one spot above my hip. I take a deep breath, she's being too forward and I can't handle it. My heart is beating out of my chest. Fuck.
I grab her wrist, "I'll let you know when I'm free again... I need to go pick Blake up." I say climbing into my car and leaving her standing in the parking lot.
I pick Blake up from the neighbors on my way home. "Thanks for watching him Wilder. I appreciate it." I tell the white haired girl, picking up bubbie and holding him to my hip.
"Why do you insist on calling me Wilder when my name is M-"
"It's a long story that I'm not drunk enough to tell." I say with a nervous chuckle.
"Ok, I won't push." she holds up her hands in defense.

Little man was wiped out from his play date, so I tucked him into bed. He'll probably sleep through the night. I'm currently on my... third glass of wine I think. Mommy needed a drink from the day I've had.
Wine drunk me is also very flirty.
Which is my way of saying I texted Billie.
H
-I may or may not be drinking wine-
-I could use a drinking buddy, Blake is asleep-
-also I'm sorry I was awkward earlier... you touched 'the spot'-Billie
-sorry it's a habit I guess... lol-
-drop your location and I'll be there-True to her word, I hear a light knock on my front door. I let Billie in and she follows me to the living room. I hand her the bottle of wine I've been nursing all evening.
"Bro what happened to a glass of wine?" she says with a laugh.
I prop my head against my hand, "Honestly lost count after my third glass, so you have some catching up to do."
"Bet." she says as she starts chugging.
I raise an eyebrow, "Someone apparently needed a drink more than I did."
"Well after you left me standing in a parking lot earlier today, I was a little confused to say the least."
"Sorry about that... I was honestly confused myself. Plus I did need to pick up Blake from his play date. He's become best friends with the little girl next door."
"Aww that's sweet." she coos.
I snort loudly, "It is, but that's not the best part. Just take a wild guess as to what his moms first name is."
"Uh, Sharon? Dude I don't know." she says with a chuckle.
I shake my head, "Morgan... her name is Morgan." Billies expression drops at the mention of the other woman's name. "Don't worry I had her background looked into before I let Blake go over there, she's clean." Billie backs away from me slowly.
Then it hits me, she thinks I'm triggered again. "Billie, I'm fine. I see my therapist once a week, unless I'm out of town, and in that case I call him. Switched medications maybe a year and a half ago, works so much better than the old one did. Trust me, I'm not triggered."
Her body language relaxes a little, "Sorry, I just used to know how you used to get with the name Morgan..."
"It's fine Bil, I'm not the same person you used to know me as." I say tucking one of my legs underneath me.
"I see that." she says studying my eyes for a moment. Her expression changes to one I haven't seen in her before. It's like she's excited and nervous all at the same time.
In an instant, her lips are on mine as she cups my face. Fuck, she tastes good. Maybe it's the wine talking... I make a move, pulling her by her thighs and settling in between them. I kiss her hungrily, gripping her hips as I do. I wanted to keep going, but the universe had other plans...
"Mommy!" I hear Blake shout from his room. I stop kissing Billie and rest my forehead against hers.
"Sorry... I should go take care of him." I say getting up and checking on him.
"Hey bubbie, what's up?" I whisper.
"Can you sing the roof song?" he whispers back.
"Sure bubbie."
I lay in his bed next to him and gently run my fingers through his hair.
Take me to the rooftop.
I wanna see the world when I stop breathing, turning blue.
Tell me love is endless, don't be so pretentious
Leave me like you do.Moments later he's out like a light.
