I've always thought Hayden was attractive, even with zero makeup, hair up and wearing baggy sweats. Pulling up to the restaurant and seeing her fixing Blake's little sweater made me feel some type of way.
"H-hey... these are for you." I say handing her the violets I picked up earlier.
"You remembered these were my favorites... thank you Billie." she says as she hugs me. She's a little reserved which is expected.
"Of course I remembered. I also got you something for you to bub." I say as I kneel, letting Blake pull out the dinosaur hoodie I got for him. He excitedly jumps up and down and shows Hayden.
"What do you say bubbie?" she prompts him.
He wraps his little arms around my neck, "Thank you Bee." he says and my heart fucking melts.
I treat Hayden and Blake to dinner, oddly enough at the place we first met. I just want her to know that I remember the little things.
"Thanks for this Billie, you really didn't have to." she says in between bites.
"But I did though. It was a jerk move not communicating with you... I get that you don't want to be with me in that way yet, and I'm trying to be ok with that. I want to get to know you for you. The good, the bad, all of it. I want to get to know little man too. I know for me to date you that he's part of the package deal and I'm willing to put in the effort. Like I said before, you're worth it Hayden." I say spilling my thoughts.
She leans over an whispers something into Blake's ear and he just nods. She gets up and grabs me by my shirt pulling me up and kisses me. "Thank you Billie... believe me when I tell you I want you, I do. Right now I can't handle anything more than kissing you. I went from having a pregnant wife, to being a single mother... I still miss her every fucking day. But you... being around you again, not seeing you for those couple of days made me miss you more."
My heart skipped a beat at her confession, "I'm not going anywhere Hayden. I promise."
"Bee! Look!"
I look over and see Blake scribbled all over his coloring sheet. I slide into the booth next to him, "Tell me about it bub."
He points to individual scribbles, "That's mommy, that's me, and that's you."
I give him a kiss on the cheek and he blushes. "I love it bub." I'm really starting to love this kid. He's so sweet.
I hear Hayden chuckle softly and I look up at her, "What's so funny?" I ask her.
"Pretty sure my kid has a crush on you Eilish." she says with a smirk and then gives me a wink. "I don't blame him though."
"I mean... I am pretty hot." I say biting my lip.
She just rolls her eyes at me, "Don't get cocky."
I smile at her, "I'll tone it down a bit. Hey, I'm going to Finn and Claudia's after this, do you and bub wanna come? I'm sure they'd love to catch up."
"Sure."

*Hayden's POV*
I thought catching up with Finn and Claudia would have been a good thing but Blake has been clinging onto my leg for dear life. He won't speak and I don't know why. Something is up with him.
I scoop him up and carry him to the kitchen and plop his behind on the counter. "Alright bubbie, what's going on?" He won't speak to me, let alone look at me. I pull his small body against mine and just hold him, "What's wrong bubbie? You gotta talk to mommy so I can help."
"Finnus scares me..." he mumbles against my neck.
"Why does Finneas scare you bub?" I ask rubbing circles on his back.
"He's a boy." he says and then it hits me... he's only been exposed to women for the past few years. Granted he's seen men when we've gone out, but I've never exposed him to men that I know.
"Bubbie I will always protect you no matter what. Finneas is one of my friends, kind of like you and Ronin. I trust him with my life, and I promise you he won't hurt you. I want you to keep in mind not all men are bad, but not all men are good either. Finn is one of the good ones." I explain, hoping his four year old mind can process everything I've said.
I watch his face as he thinks and then it clicks, he gives me a smile. "Down." he orders.
I scoff, "You wanna use some manners bub?"
"Please?" he says holding his arms up. I playfully roll my eyes and give him what he wants. He makes a dash for the next room where everyone is, and once I catch up I see him trying to crawl into Finn's lap.
Finn gives Blake his undivided attention and Billie speaks up, "He's so cute." she says as her pinky grazes my hand. My heart leaps out of my chest.
"Y-yeah he is." I reply, taking the opportunity to be bold as I trail my fingers over the palm of her hand and lace my fingers with hers.
I ponder things for a moment. She's not the same Billie I used to know, and I'm thankful for that. It's like she finally found herself. She found out who she was underneath the fame, clothes, and music. Her true colors are shining, and honestly it's the most beautiful things I've ever seen. She's so confident, and it's not in a cocky way.
"I like you, a lot." I mutter under my breath just loud enough for her to hear.
"I like you too Hayden." she whispers back as I see her cheeks flush a cute shade of pink.
