-The next day-
-Dusty's POV-
I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night, without disturbing me, I blinked my eyes open, to see if it is day, I glanced at my watch to check the time, as I was the time, I sat upright quickly. The time was 2:37 in the early morning, and I could not believe that I woke up without being disturbed this time. I looked and checked Dennis if he was experiencing horrid nightmares again, but he was sleeping good. I went to the exit of the tent and unzipped the tent's door, revealing the dark blue night sky facing me, I was surprise that it was partly cold. Some light winds brushed towards my face and my body. I stared at the DSLR cam that was still running, wait!!!
I remembered that the DSLR cam was still running, I rushly ran on the camera and checked it if it was low battery or overheating. I put one side of my palm on the sides of the camera to check if it was heating or not. When I touched it, it was still in good condition, not heating and not running out of juice yet. I gave a sigh of relief as DSLR camera was still good, if not, Dennis will really beat me up. I sat down on the icy grounds and crossed my legs, Indian seat to be precise, I took a quick peek on the base to see what was happening there, then I fixed myself for a moment. But I saw something while I took a quick peek, I quickly looked at the camera to see the enhanced zoom of it, I gasped while my jaws dropped. We had one of the big problem that we would fear the worst, we saw several troops were going out carrying something. Landmines...
Several troops were in the area deploying huge landmines, as huge as the diameter of 4 by 4 tires of common trucks, probably big to dismantle an armor car, enough to blow a bus. They we're just throwing it in any direction and waited for it to be covered in dust of ice, the troops remembered the place where they threw it. After several tens of minutes, they finally went back inside the base. Wait! If they we're throwing landmines everywhere, how they would exit the base without being disturbed and exploded by the landmines, there is one point in the perimeter where the entranced will be located. I viewed the seen base from the camera and checked every single angle that the entrance should be present. I noticed two poles that was present on the far right of the base, I studied it very carefully as I recognized it, it was the entranc! So that is why no soldier threw even a single landmines on that area.
Then, I took notes of the spots where landmines had been thrown, every single piece of it. I was silent still that time, focusing on the military base notes, which is giving me a lot of time to do with. It almost took me 30 minutes to study the places that was infested with landmines, where most landmines been thrown, some bumps on the ice where I assume that it was a landmine. I did recheck all of that again until I hypothesized all the places with the landmines.
"Dennis is right, the outside perimeter is scattered and devoured by landmines, so that's why not even a single marine is going outside, fearing that a single mine could blow it to pieces", I mumbled, breaking the quietness around me, I can't help saying it to the wind that blew in front of me. He was correct on all his hypothesis that he made on our discussion back in the States! I came back to the tent to get my notebook and my pencil, I didn't write anything on it since I bought that notebook, so I brought it here, just in case. As I finally held on my notebook from my bag with the pencil, I quickly grabbed it out and went outside. I quickly wrote everything that I remembered from the observation that I did for the past 45 minutes and started to observe more. I stayed awake for the rest of the day, even Dennis is asleep.
