chapter 6

And that's how Jennie found herself having fun for one of the first times in her life. The pizza she ate was different from what she usually had. She didn't eat much pizza anyway since her mother always claimed it was an unhealthy fattening food, and that ladies should always stick to a lighter diet.

She figured having a Hawaiian pizza with pineapple and ham would be okay. It was a bit weird seeing fruit on pizza, but Taehyung said it would be good so she trusted him. She wished she would've stuck to her better judgment. It was awful.

"You have terrible taste." Jennie admitted as she gulped down a cup of water to get rid of the taste.

Taehyung just shrugged and bit into his own pizza.

After that, the three played a racing game on the PS4 in the large living area with a few other people. Throughout the game, Jimin kept getting mad since he kept coming in last place, and Jennie would laugh at how bright his cheeks would get, almost matching his hair color.

"Jimin, chill." Taehyung's lips turned up slightly at the sight of the pink boy, and it was the first time Jennie's seen some sort of smile on his face.

It made her cheeks warm slightly and she forced herself to look away before he noticed and stopped.

Jimin just growled and tilted his controller along with his entire body as if he were actually in the game.

It broke Jennie, literally broke her since she couldn't control her laughter after that. Jimin took his eyes off the screen for a second to glance at her, and he pouted childishly when she wouldn't stop.

It was Jennie's first time playing on a console like that, so she had an excuse to be bad. Jimin however, was just sucked.

He ignored Jennie for a few minutes when she beat him again, but they eventually made up. Jimin taught her how to do the renegade, a TikTok dance, on the car ride back to her house.

For her first party, it was a pretty fun experience, and nothing like she expected it to be. Just like in the movies she watched, there wasn't any drugs or alcohol or anything like that... or at least she didn't see it.

Jennie was just having fun like a normal girl her age would. She went out with two boys she hardly even knew. Two boys her mother would definitely not approve of. Two boys who lived in Hoboken. Two boys that are - okay she's back again.

What was she thinking? Doing something so scandalous and so bad. She could only hope that her parents were already asleep since the time was - 3am??? Jennie gasped aloud and looked outside the car window where it was fairly dark, a few lamp posts lighting up the streets.

"Hey, quit panicking back there." Jennie heard Jimin's soft voice from the front of the car. "Did you have fun?"

Jennie thought back to everything she's done today, and honestly, it was more than she would do in probably a month. "Yes but - "

"No buts. No regrets, remember?" Taehyung reminded and glanced at her through the mirror and he controlled the wheel.

Jennie couldn't help but think in her head, she was so dead.

When they neared her neighborhood, she made sure to ask them to park a few houses down so she could walk up there herself.

She didn't want to take any chances, and since she was still new to this whole sneaking back in thing, she couldn't made dumb decisions. It was something she saw in a move before, so she figured it was pretty smart.

Her heart had been beating extremely hard when she found herself on the porch step, the lights shining down on her. She was glad it was night time though, knowing that if any nosy neighbors happened to be out, they wouldn't be able to figure out who she was.

She held the handle of the door, and put in the key before slowly twisting it open. Thankfully, the door didn't make a loud noise, but there was still a little creek.

She managed to make it all the way in the house, and she gently shut the door behind her. She took off her shoes and prepared to go to her room when she felt something was wrong.

"Where were you?" The voice belonged to her mother who flipped the light switch on dramatically, standing in the middle of the hallway.

It was safe to say Jennie wouldn't be seeing her phone for a good few weeks.

She shut the door behind her gently and stared at the woman with wide guilty eyes. "I was just with my friend - "

"Isn't it sad that your sister had to alert me about your whereabouts. She was worried sick! Do you know how worried we were?" Jennie wanted to roll her eyes.

They were so worried, and yet her phone didn't ring once.

Jisoo stepped out from behind her mother, revealing herself and her sly grin.

"Apologize to her. Right now." Her mother had her hands on her hips and shot Jennie a disappointed glare.

She murmured an apology, but it clearly wasn't enough when her mother held her hand out.

"Phone too. You'll get it back when I see you've changed."

Jennie felt like she was going to burst out crying, but she kept herself together. She placed her phone in her mother's opened palm and was finally able to walk upstairs to her room.

She didn't miss the wink Jisoo gave her as she passed by. It was impossible not to, but anything seemed possible when it came to her mother.
