chapter 32

Thanksgiving went much better than she expected, and she already had really high expectations. The day before, she was greeted with a loud squeal when her parents and sister stood by the doorstep.

Anastasia had always preferred Jennie as a cousin over Jisoo because the two just had more in common.

Anastasia was about three years younger, and really looked up to Jennie. Which was why she already 'claimed her' to share a room with.

Her aunt's house was huge, and had about 7 bedrooms which was more than enough for the amount of family coming to visit.

The second they walked in, Jennie saw her 3 younger cousins and nieces, Lalisa, Kaiser, and Kara.

She had several older cousins as well, and one she was closest with was Andres, who was pretty young - only 26. He brought his wife, Nina, who admittedly stood out due to her pale skin.

But she had been a part of the family for so long, and the color of her skin never mattered. Their cute little baby, Lalisa, was now 3, and although she cried a lot, it brought joy in Jennie's chest to see her again, but as a year older.

They arrived in Lakewood at night since they chose to leave pretty late. In her parents' eyes, the later they showed up, the less time they had to stay in the 'horrid city.'

Her sister managed to lighten up a bit, and she hung out with the older cousins while Jennie messed around with the younger ones.

"Jennie, can you make those macaroons like last year again, please, please, please!!" Anastasia, who was 17 years old, stressed.

"It's a bit late though." Jennie eyed the time on her phone which was nearing 11 pm.

"Who cares!?" Kaiser, the smart mouthed little boy butt in, glancing up from his tablet. "I'm hungry, please."

Jennie just laughed and shook her head. "If Aunt Kathy has all the ingredients?"

"We went with her to the store, we brought everything so you can make them again," Anastasia informed with a smile.

There was no way Jennie could say no with them staring at her like that, especially with Kaiser's big brown eyes.

"Fine," she gave in. "But only because I'm hungry too."

She made them help her with everything as well. Kaiser, who could hardly reach the counter, had to get all of the ingredients.

Then, Anastasia would have to blend them all together. Jennie thought teaching them to make it rather than doing it herself would be smarter.

Sooner or later, Kara, the 12 year old ran down the steps after hearing the blender go off. "Are you making food without me?! How dare you." she snarled at her little brother, Kaiser.
