chapter 25

Jennie was at Walmart. Not working, but shopping for groceries that she would need for the bake sale.

She would have gone to Giant knowing their shelves were more filled, but that would have felt like she was cheating on Walmart. Plus, she'd get an employee discount and save money.

She knew exactly where everything was since she literally worked there, and so it didn't take long for her to find the bakery aisle.

She already had the majority of the ingredients like red velvet cake mix at her home, but she was still missing a few.

She spotted the glazed icing she needed and reached up to grab it. But it was up far too high, and she seemed to underestimate her height. She stretched to reach for it again, and then a third time, leaning on her tiptoes.

She sighed when she couldn't reach and just stared at the can with a glare as if it would fall down. She placed her hands on her hips and looked at the bottom shelf.

Maybe she could just stand on the bottom shelf to try to reach it. But by doing that, she might just make things worse. And get fired since that was obviously against the rules.

She felt oppressed and deeply offended that the shelved were impossibly high for any human to reach. It was literally discrimination towards short people.

What were they so tall for? She was about to turn around and look for someone tall enough to help her when she saw a hand reaching up for her.

"Jimin? Hi." She said in surprise when the pink hair boy stood in front of her. He held the icing out to her and she took it from his hands. She took it gingerly. "Thank you, really."

He nodded, his pink hair moving from the action. He looked a bit off, and he wasn't smiling much like he usually was either.

"You guys didn't respond back to my message, I thought I did something wrong." Jennie smiled sadly and kept her gaze to the floor when Jimin remained quiet.

She felt her palms begin to get sweaty.

"Where's Taehyung?" She asked nervously at an attempt to make small talk.

She noticing the other boy wasn't here with him.

He chuckled nervously and scratched the back of his head. "Somewhere around here, I kinda lost him."

Jennie nodded and opened her mouth to reply but paused after hearing small footsteps coming towards them.

"Chim chim!" A soft voice said down the aisle and who appeared was a little girl, her big eyes finding Jimin and she ran up to him.
