chapter 30

They were at the movie theaters, waiting in the ticket line as they decided what movie to watch. Taehyung suggested something scary but Jimin insisted on a comedy movie since it was too early to watch a horror film. It was 4 pm.

"How come you're free today by the way?" Taehyung asked curiously in the line.

Jennie, who was looking up at the previewed moves, glanced at the boy. "I took off of work today and Wednesday since I'm leaving tomorrow..."

"Leaving where?" Jimin questioned with a slight frown, tilting his head.

"Well, I'm visiting family in Hoboken for thanksgiving, and we're leaving tomorrow." She said looking a bit thrilled. She was so excited to see her aunts and cousins.

Jimin thought for a moment. "Actually, you're not leaving, you're coming closer."

Technically they weren't wrong since they did live in Hoboken.

"What part are you visiting?"

"She lives around Hudson street," Jennie replied.

"Hm, we're in 14th. It's not that far." It was about 10 minutes from one to the other.

"I guess... but I wont see you guys though, for a few days," Jennie said with a frown. "Unless by coincidence."

"We have your number. Maybe I'll call you," Jimin said with a smile.

"Or maybe I will," Taehyung added as well.

Jennie just smiled and saw that it was their turn at the ticket booth.

"Hey, what movies are you looking for - Jennie?"

"Doja?!" Jennie looked down at her with shock. She was wearing the usual AMC hat and uniform. "I didn't know you worked here?"

"I can't believe it myself!" She said dramatically. "I freaking hate this job. You know, they put me on bathroom duty the other day?! It was so disgusting, do people not know how to flush!?" Doja shuttered and made a face to match her voice. Jennie chuckled.

"Ooh, you're with the Cotton Candy Boys, hmm." She noticed the two guys near her. Jennie just smiled flatly and glared at her friend.

"A+ for embarrassing me." She mumbled and Doja raised her hands as if to surrender.

Jimin laughed and glanced at Taehyung. "Is that what people call us?"

Taehyung shrugged and tousled his friend's hair. "It does kind of look like cotton candy."

"I wonder if it tastes like it," Jimin thought aloud, and missed the look of utter disappointment on Taehyung's face.

Jennie smiled at the two while Doja tapped on the counter with her long nail lightly. "I don't mean to interrupt anything but there's kinda a line behind y'all."

Jennie glanced back subconsciously and saw the few people waiting behind them, talking among themselves. "We need to decide on a movie."

"How about you pick something, since we can't decide?" Taehyung suggested, and looked at the girl behind the cash register. She shrugged and scrolled through the options. She pressed the screen several times and looked up at them.

"That'll be $28 dollars," she held her hand out. Taehyung gave it to her in cash and after saying goodbye, the three moved on to the concessions.

"I'm paying for my own food," Jennie said in a tone that showed she already had her mind set.

Taehyung chuckled and nodded. Jennie ordered herself a movie nachos and an iced tea. Jimin got a typical popcorn that Taehyung and him would share.

They walked to where the person who patrols and checks movie tickets were. He pointed down the hall for their correct room. When they got there, Jennie froze in her tracks at the name of the movie they were about to see.

I am so going to kill her. Jennie barred her teeth as she thought of different ways to get her back.

"After, really?" Jimin laughed at the movie choice. "Your friend is cool."

Doja knew how much she hated seeing romantic movies since she quite literally had no patience for it. The little things the characters did made her feel stressed out most of the time.

Doja witnessed it herself countless times, calling it cute and funny how riled up Jennie would get.

"She's a traitor." Jennie said aloud and the three walked in the dark room.

Jennie almost tripped on a wire if it weren't for Taehyung grabbing onto her shoulder to make sure she was fine. Jennie thanked him and eyed the wire on the floor. What kind of poor construction is this? She scrunched her nose at the thought.

Jimin led them to the very back where they were actually able to get a seat. Good luck on his part, because whenever Jennie tried, it was always full.

They took a seat, and Jennie later realized they purposely put her in the middle.

"Why am I in the middle? Aren't you guys sharing popcorn?" she whispered, even though it was just random ads playing on the screen.

"Yeah, but we'd just end up fighting over who'd get to sit next to you." Jimin said and she felt her face warm.

"Plus, I'd rather sit by you and risk not having popcorn." Taehyung admitted and leaned back on his seat.

"S - stop," Jennie blushed looking down at the floor.

Her cheeks felt on fire and her poor heart couldn't handle it for much longer. To make things worse, Jennie saw Jimin sign something to Taehyung from the corner of her eye.

Taehyung just laughed out loud, and she heard the deep sound she wanted to become familiar with.

The movie was starting, and right as the lights officially went out, she felt a warm hand enclose around her own. It made butterflies erupt in her stomach just knowing who the person was.

She's always had an inkling that the things she felt were stronger for one of the boys than it was for the other.

And the warm hand that began rubbing circles with their thumb confirmed the thought.
